About the book:

The latest Green Mountain Romance from the The New York Times bestselling author of It’s Only Love.

Charlotte “Charley” Abbott has gone out with every guy under thirty-five in Butler, Vermont—except for one. Tyler Westcott’s attempts to date her may be determined, and frequent, but Charley can’t stand how he acts like he knows her better than she knows herself. So when Tyler turns up at the running club Charley joined to train for a marathon, she’s almost ready to quit before she even gets started.

Tyler knows that behind Charley’s prickly personality and dismissive attitude is a sweet woman he wants in his life. And when Charley suffers an injury while training, Tyler is ready to prove that the perfect man for her has been right there all along...

My Thoughts:
Charley has always been the prickly girl of the Abbott family and I was wondering who’d be willing to take her on. I like a girl with spunk, someone who speaks her mind, boldly saying what everyone else is thinking but doesn’t have the guts to come out and say it.  Charley is that girl.  As far as romance goes, Charley is jaded by an old college betrayal, something she never got over so she’s not inclined to open her heart up to another man, especially not Tyler who’s asked her out about a million times. Tyler is determined and serious, and not much about her escapes his notice. Charley wants nothing to do with him until a running accident incapacitates her, and Tyler steps up and in to help in any way he can.  It’s impossible for Charley to ignore all the awesomeness that is Tyler.

Ever since Tyler laid eyes on Charley he’s been gone for her.  He loves her spunk and feistiness:

“I’m crazy about you in all your prickly, difficult, sexy, funny, challenging, gorgeous perfection.”—You’re my dream girl, Charley,” he whispered.

The accident just about scares the death out of him, but it also gives Tyler and opportunity to show Charley just how good they could be together.

While Charley’s attitude could be a little annoying at times I could understand where she was coming from.  When you’re burned badly by love it’s hard to take a chance again.  Fortunately, Tyler was determined and patient. I can’t tell you how much I loved him!  He was an absolute dream: sexy, smart-guy-hot, passionate, accomplished, and all about Charley!  I would’ve scooped him up in a heartbeat!  And boy was their romance HOT! Ms. Force writes some smoking hot scenes!

I was a little worried that there would be major drama on Charley’s part, shutting Tyler out for some stupid reason or another, but I was happy she would take a step back and think every time she had cold feet.  I will say I hope Charley (Highlight to view spoiler) changes her mind about having children.  I know having kids is not for everyone, but I can’t help but wonder if Charley never wanted kids because she never loved anyone enough to desire the experience.  Also, I feel like Tyler is giving up a little bit of his dreams by agreeing to no kids to be with Charley. He built that big beautiful house complete with lots of bedrooms in the hope he’d fill it with his own kids someday.  I wonder if the decision to forgo kids will hurt Tyler later on in life. I can’t help but feel he’s being shortchanged here. (End of spoiler)

The Green Mountain series is one of my absolute favorite small town romance series out there!  I adore coming back to Butler, Vermont to catch up with the big, loving Abbott family every time! If you’re a fan of a small town romance complete with fun, quirky characters, and a beautiful setting you must pick up the Green Mountain series! Marie Force expertly captures the charm and homespun qualities I adore about a small town romance!

  1. I’m glad to hear you continue to enjoy this series, Rachel. I put it on my tbr-list after you wonderful reviews on previous books, but as is often happens with older releases these stories stayed buried under other books. I definitely need to pick up a book from Green Mountain series. I think I’m in the right mood for a small town romance. Great review! Prickly heroine is not my favorite type, but you’ve made Charley and Tyler’s romance sound so wonderful.
