Sunday Post #46

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up with Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

I'm down in San Diego for the weekend. Went to Sea World Friday and the San Diego Zoo Saturday with the grand kids, my daughter and her husband. We had a great time and I even rode a roller coaster at Sea World which was scarier, considering that it's at Sea World, that I thought it would be, lol! That thing was fast, and I got a nice little adrenaline jolt!

Are you ever at a loss for words when you go to write a review? Well it seems I've been having this problem lately. I just wrote minis for both The Girl in Red and Marriage for One.  Really enjoyed both!  I might do the same for Archangel's War, which was epic, but I have no idea what to say. Especially since most of what I might say would probably be spoilery. Not sure how to write that one.  Is it okay just to say "read it!" and be done? Lol.

  1. I liked The Girl In Red. And ooh Sea World- fun! I haven't been there in ages (since the one in Ohio closed many moons ago)!

Hope you have a nice week! :)

  2. OMG YOU READ MARRIAGE FOR ONE!! EEEEEEEK!
I'd love to visit the San Diego zoo one day! I want to feed giraffes!

  3. I really want to read Marriage For One,. Genesis raves about it and I trust her judgment. :) It's hard to write a review when you feel like almost anything you say would be a spoiler!

    1. I know! I have to figure out something more than "read it" though, I guess, lol. :)

    1. Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about them either. I thought this would be an easy going one, lol.

  6. I don't know how to review Archangel's war either!! Literally EVERYTHING is a spoiler. San Diego looks beautiful.

  7. Yes I do lack words sometimes! It's when I realize that it's time to take a break. Even just two days! And I never would go on a roller coaster again! Too chicken LOL

    1. I'm not much for roller coasters anymore either, but this one looked tame. Looks were deceiving! Plus, my daughter wanted to ride it.

  8. I've been there with a book being so powerful that it left me unable to articulate a good review afterward. :)

Lovely trip to San Diego! How fun with the family. But a rollercoaster at Sea World, had no idea.

    A new Tess LaRue. Enjoy.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

    1. I think I'm just going through reviewers block. Feel like I'm saying the same thing over and over.

Yeah, I had no idea either. Thanks, I hope I like her. You too, Sophia Rose! :)

  9. I'm often at a loss for words when it comes to reviewing books. That's probably why I don't review everything I read...and also why my reviews are always short. ;D

    1. Glad to hear I'm not alone in my feelings. :) I don't formally review a lot of books I read anymore.

  10. I have more trouble reviewing books because I try not to be spoilery and that means I talk about if I liked the plot, world-building pace, and character development, and sometimes narration. But I feel like I am talking about the same things over and over. And how they made me feel. That's the best I have for you. I've visited Sand Diego a couple of times and enjoyed the Zoo and Sea World. I love the seafood too. Have a lovely week!

  12. I really enjoyed The Girl in Red (just read your review, too), and I wasn't expecting a lot of what happened to happen. The sci-fi angle threw me, but totally fit the rest of the story. Like you, I didn't understand the red hoodie when she wanted to go unnoticed.

I did roller coasters this year for my 30th birthday and it was miserable. Terrifying and something my brain/body no longer enjoy!

Yeah, they don't agree with me much either anymore. Usually I get a head and stomach ache.

  18. I just can't do roller coasters. I'm too afraid of heights. :) Sounds like a fun time with family! I just got approved for a book by Nalini Signh and I've never read her books. Excited to try it!

  19. I love San Diego! That's were my Dad is from, and all of his family still lives there. Sea World is one of my favorite places. I can never get enough of the Dolphin's and Whales! I love the shows. I can't wait to see your reviews on the three books you read. They are all books that have piqued my interest! Have a great week Rachel :)

  20. I feel that way a lot lately about writing reviews, that I just have run out of words. I seriously hope my reviews aren't as lacking as I know they are to others because I have read some amazing books this year that deserve so much better praise than what I've been able to give them. Anyways, have fun in San Diego! I love Sea World!

  22. Sometimes a review just comes to me and sometimes I have to fight it every step. I guess that is just the way it works sometimes. Mini reviews are a great solution. It has been years since I went to Sea World but I do remember some great rides. Not so sure I would like them as much now though. I hope you are having a great week!
