Sunday Post #85

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

I'm in Montana again. Went on a hike while listening to A Change of View (below). The scenery fit in perfectly with the book. The weather is beautiful and I wish I didn't have to go home.

Change of View is the second Freya Barker book I've listened to. Book two in the Northern Lights series and I think I liked this one even more than the first. There's a Kristen Ashley vibe going on. Love Lorelei James hockey romances! The Veil was okay. Listened to the audio with my husband while driving back and forth (last week) from my daughter's house in Northern California. My husband liked it well enough, but it didn't knock my socks off.

Love Anna Lee Huber's Verity Kent series so I was thrilled to download A Pretty Deceit. I got a library copy of The Last Widow and I'm still deciding if I want to tackle it. Sounds like it'll put me through the ringer. Hit & Run and Life & Limb are both audio books and I'm excited because I've become a fan of Freya Barker!

Watched:

Yep, I'm still binging Heartland! Sorry if you're sick of seeing it on my post, but I can't get enough. The scenery is very like the place I'm staying at in Montana!

How was your week?

  1. Lovely to hear you're enjoying more time in beautiful Montana. No holidays for me, but I did enjoy a day out and pub lunch with a friend on Friday and I'll be cycling over to my grandad's today. Hopefully coming back home won't be too hard for you! Take care and happy reading!😃

  2. Montana was one of the trips were considered when changing our vacation to something inside the US. Looks beautiful! Did you fly there? How was flying? I am paranoid and had canceled my trip to Chicago because of it.

    1. It is beautiful, and there's a lot of open space in Montana. We're staying at a place where you can hike, fish, horseback ride, hang out a pool, and more. We're staying in a town home on the property, so we're not really close to anyone else.

We did fly. It wasn't bad at all. You were a mask the entire time you're in the airport and on the flight. They sanitize all surfaces on the plane in between flights, but they give you wipes to wipe down your area for extra peace of mine. I have my own wipes I bring on flights, too, just in case. Plus, most airlines leave a seat between passengers. The attendants walk through and remind everyone to keep their mask on unless you're eating or drinking. I felt safe.

  4. So glad you are enjoying your trip! I've been extremely hesitant to do any travel so I'm always curious to hear about the experience of others. So glad you're enjoying (or enjoyed) Want You to Want Me. I really appreciated the low-angst relationship between Nolan and Gabi.

    1. I know, I was too, but so far I've been happy how they've handled flying. Masks, distancing and sanitizing. They sanitize, but I do, too. Everywhere! We eat outside if we go anywhere. Wine tasting is also outside.

Yes, I really enjoyed their low-angst easy romance!

  6. Montana is gorgeous. If it didn't get so cold in the winter and my husband could work remotely I would move there is a heartbeat! Have a great week!

    1. I know, the winters are brutal. My in-laws lived out here for like 15 years and loved the summers. The winters, not so much.

    1. About an hour outside of Helena in Rock Creek/Garrison. Bummer about your trip! I'm not sure they'll let us in Canada yet, but it does look pretty similar the higher you go. Heartland is filmed in Alberta and the scenery looks so alike!

      Yeah, love KA too!

  12. Love Big Sky country! I've only been through twice, but my friend lives there and sends me pictures and descriptions trying to tempt me out there. Love your picture.

I'll have to give Freya Barker a try since you're loving her stuff. Although, I think I did read and love one of her books a while back. Need to check. :)

    Safe return travels, Rachel!

  16. I love it when my environment matches the book I am reading. I have never been to Montana, I just know there winters are very cold there. Haha. I'm more of a Desert gal and so snow and I don't mix well. I'm sorry The Veil was just okay. That's one I've had my eye on to read. I've read the first Verity Kent book and loved it. I need to catch up with the series. I really want to give Huber's Darby series a try also. Have you read that one? I hope you enjoy your week!

    1. Yep, I hear Montana has very cold winters. Haven't been there during the Winter and I'm not planning to! We're enjoying the Summer season there, though. We'll be going back in a couple of weeks.

I did read it and loved it, too! Verity Kent might just be the favorite of the two, though. Just by a smidge. :)
