The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
I got up and ran 3 miles yesterday, although not as early as I was hoping and by the end it was hot!! We're still working on our kitchen remodel and started painting the cabinet faces (we ordered new ones) white. Well, my husband did, lol! I sanded a couple of wall shelves that are black so we can paint them white, and then after that I spent Saturday afternoon by the pool reading. We took my son and is wife out to dinner for their anniversary with my sister and her husband (we're all vaccinated) and had a really nice evening catching up!
Today I'll probably work in the garden, read, and run when it cools down. Cooking at home and getting ready for the work week. The weekends go by way too fast!

The Final Girl Support Group isn't due until next month but I was in a reading funk last week and needed a change from romance. It was like an 80's horror movie; campy and fun! Crazy About a Cowboy was a sweet, feel good romance. I'm giving away a copy HERE. I read Branded by Fire as part of Anne @Books of My Heart's read-along and it was a one of my favorites so far in the Psy-Changeling series! Tragic was a freebie a few weeks back and the library had an audio so I "read" it that way. Loved! Now I want Isaiah's story which is the second in the Tin Gypsy series. I think I'll break down and buy it.

Yep, went a little crazy here. Do you sometimes wait to download ARCs from publisher emails? I do because if I download all at once I'll have a ton on my Netgalley shelf that aren't reviewed. I'm always worried that if I have a lot if I request another book the publisher will see that and reject my request, even though I have a 96% feedback ratio. I have those emails open on my computer so I don't forget to grab them, but I got tired of seeing so many emails open and just decided to download all of them. Well, except for the August titles...
At any rate, that's why there's so many although, 4 of the above titles are not review copies.

Finished Mare of Eastown last week and it was sooo good! It's only 7 episodes to it's not a long and dragged out mystery, which I liked. Those Who Wish Me Dead was entertaining. Maybe just a smidge above "okay" for me.
How was your week?
I'm really looking forward to Final Girl Support Group! I'm on episode 3 of Mare and already hooked. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh, Mare is so good! I'll be interested to hear what you think of how it all turned out.
Deletesounds like a good week. hope for the same coming up
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Thanks!
DeleteI too order or buy more books than I can read so..don't feel bad LOL
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kind of dug myself a hole, lol!
DeleteFun dinner with family and celebrating. Woohoo for getting more done on your kitchen project and time by the pool. Hope the temps taper so your run is more pleasant. Campy 80's horror does sound fun and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I went a bit nuts a few weeks ago with NetGalley requests. 96% is a fab level.
Have a great week, Rachel!
Thanks! I don't grab up every copy of what's offered but still, it's a lot!
DeleteI'm always so impressed by runners. I just can't do it. My exercise bike or elliptical are the only exercise I can handle. LOL!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Thanks! Exercise bike and elliptical are challenges as well! It's hard not to run when I get out there. Except for the up-hills, but even then I try to run in spurts up them.
DeleteSounds like you had a great week of reading! Good luck with your kitchen remodel. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYou're a champ! I didn't even want to go food shopping today because of the heat. Good for you going running and working in the garden. I keep the emails, but usually by the time I get them, I have too many review copies already. Wow! 96% ratio is amazing. I am close to 92% right now, but I know there are old books I will never read.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are old books on mine, too that just sit there and glare at me. I don't know what to do with them. I always think I'll get to them someday.
DeleteBranded by Fire was my favorite so far. But I'm still enjoying them. I am debating about the Grady Hendrix book. I don't read much horror but it sounded good. I did get the Heart Principle. I'm glad for you to have family time and project time and reading/pool time. Good for you with the running. For me it would be walking or swimming these days.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
The Final Girl Support Group was crazy! More campy than horror IMO. I wonder what you'll think. Swimming and walking are great exercise. Doing anything with your back issues is something!
DeleteI'm jealous of anyone who has pool time. Good luck with the home projects!
ReplyDeleteThe weekends DO go by too fast! Hope you're having a good one. Love that Instagram pic!
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing Mare of Easttown around!
I do the same thing with NetGalley widgets! I will download them right away if I am super excited but otherwise, I try to wait until I want to start reading them. I am glad you were able to out with your family. That sounds really nice! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a problem with having a bunch of books on my NetGalley shelf and requesting more. Some of the ones I got don't release for a couple of months so I just figured they knew why I had so many on there waiting to be reviewed.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, I have stayed away from Net Galley for a couple of years now, at least so I'm saved. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Heart Principle is on my wish list. I can't wait to read your thoughts on these books, Rachel!
I hope you're having a great week. ;)
I can't resist! I hope we both love The Heart Principle! You too! :)
DeletePoolside, awesome
ReplyDeleteAnd yay new cabinets
Yeah, it was really nice. Not unbearably hot like it can be. :)
