Sunday Post #313

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

We had a nice trip to Cancun with family. The weather was beautiful. We went enjoyed the beach, a water park and I had a relaxing massage.  I enjoyed everything except the mosquito bites.

View from our room

We got back late on Sunday and I had to work the next day.

Now I'm finishing up all the bookings for our trip to Italy which is just a couple of weeks away. I found a new house sitter and I'm so relived!

Puzzles completed over the last two weeks (I didn't post last Sunday):

1000 Piece Puzzle: Gothic Novels by Gibson Games
1000 Piece Puzzle: Gothic Novels by Gibson Games

1000 Piece Puzzle: Old New England by Charles Wysocki, Milton Bradley
1000 Piece Puzzle: Old New England by Charles Wysocki (Milton Bradley)

The panicle hydrangeas are almost done blooming and are turning pretty shades of pink on the ends. I cut a bunch and have them drying but also brought some in for arrangements:

It's been cold here so we've been having a fire going in the wood stove. I love it! So does Peanut!

Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth
Guess Again by Charlie Donlea
Sharp Force (Kay Scarpetta #29) by Patricia Cornwell

Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth-5 Stars

It looks like a lot, but this is two weeks worth of reading. I had a bunch of time to kill on the plane ride back and forth from Cancun. A long flight each way!

After having a few duds a couple of weeks back I was thrilled to love everything I read. My favorite read was Sweep of the Heart! I just finished tonight so I'd be able to participate in our group chat tomorrow. I'm sad this is the last of the Innkeeper Chronicles so far! I forgot about that ending!

Received:

Witches of Dubious Origin by Jenn McKinlay

    1. Yes, I got lucky with my books, plus I had a lot of time to kill since there was no direct flight so it took a long time to get there and worse coming home! We did have a good time despite that. :)

  5. Oh! What a beautiful header picture and the view from your room is heaven itself! And then off you go to Italy! How wonderful! Beautiful puzzles! You are talented at flower arrangements! The flowers are lovely. Peanut looks so cozy and comfortable. I read Mad Mabel and loved it as well! How I wish I could meet her in person! I had a pretty good week and am slowly finding a new normal after Daddy's passing. Grandchildren are the best at giving us renewed joy and giggles.

    1. Thank you! The header is from a hike my husband and I took along the Oregon coastline. It's one of my favorite places on Earth! Thank you, love puzzles, flowers and my sweet kitties! Mad Mabel was wonderful, right? I'm sorry to hear about your father! Yes, children do help soothe away the pain. Glad you're finding some solace!

    1. Flowers make me so happy! I better enjoy them while I can. Not much blooms over the winter here besides pansies and primrose and they're not great for cutting. I was happy to read it again! It's only my 2nd time through while it was my third time through for the rest of the series. I forgot a lot since it's been over two years since I read it the first time. I forgot that ending!

  7. What a fabulous view - it sounds like you had a wonderful time in Cancun. I love the way Peanut lies when napping:). And that's the wonderful about hydrangas - they still look fabulous even as they're fading. I haven't yet read the latest Richard Osman, though I'm a huge fan of the series. And I also need to get hold of the latest Benedict Jacka! Have a great week, Rachel.

  9. Cancun looks beautiful. I need another trip that is just about relaxing. My cruise was nice, but not as much just relaxing as I'd hoped. Looks like some good books and I need to catch up on your reviews! It's cooled off enough here I turned the heat on last night. Hope you have a good week!

    1. I know, there are some trips that are for relaxing and some that are touring. I would say most of the trip to Cancun was pretty busy. It usually is with kids. Nice that you're getting some cooler weather. I love having a woodstove fire! You, too, Lisa!

    1. The white sand beaches were gorgeous and soft! I wish we would've had time to do the Mayan ruins, but it was a short trip and we're along for the ride when we travel with my daughter, SIL and the grandkids. If we were alone we'd have added that to our trip. Thanks! You, too! :)

    1. Yes! Such a fun series. Yikes! Sometimes I'll get a "skip the line" notification and get access to the book sooner. I hope that happens for you!

I'd love to visit Cancun someday, and I'm quite envious of your upcoming trip to Italy!
