Review: Teaching Willow Session One by Paige James

Teaching Willow: Session One

Publication Date: March 25th 2014

About the book:

My name is Willow Masters. I’m a senior in college, I’m smart and I keep to myself. I haven’t had an “incident” in years. What all of these facts have in common is that none of them made any difference when it came to Ebon Daniels.

He started out as my sister’s date. I was instantly infatuated, but had no plans to do anything about it. I even managed to keep my feelings hidden when he took over my Modernist Literature class for the semester. The problems didn’t start until my sister took pages from my book—literal pages from a book I was writing—and gave them to the one person never intended to see them. That’s when the lies started. That’s also when I saw an opportunity to make my only dream become a reality.

So I took it.

And nothing will ever be the same again.
How could one lie spark a wildfire that burned down everything in its path? How could it get me all I ever wanted and then cost me everything that ever mattered?
It doesn’t seem possible, but it is. It’s possible, it’s true and it’s tragic. In my book, there is a happy ending, but I don’t know if my life will have the same outcome.
My name is Willow Masters and this is the story of how falling in love with my teacher nearly destroyed both of our lives.

And how it still might.

My Thoughts:
Teaching Willow Session One was one hot novella!  Physical attraction can stir up strong feelings, but combine that with being attracted by the mind too, and the result can be all-consuming and overwhelming.

This is exactly what has happened to Willow and Ebon. Unfortunately Ebon is off limits for two reason: he’s Willow’s college professor and her twin sister’s boyfriend!  Agh!!!  Right there my stomach was twisting around from the messiness of it all.  I do not like love triangles AT ALL!  Yet, I couldn’t stop reading!

We get Ebon’s POV as well, and he’s a goner over Willow too, even though she has no idea.  He’s more attracted to her than he ever was to her sister, Sage, but he didn’t know that going in.

Willow is so different from Sage. Sage dresses provocatively, and wears makeup; she's gorgeous, but he was only attracted to her physical appearance and not much else. Willow appears sweet and innocent on the outside, without a stitch of makeup and always conservatively dressed, but he now knows from her writings that there is a passionate, intense woman underneath. And he wants!

"In my defense, it’s not just Willow’s body that I want. It’s everything about her. I want to consume her. Mind, body, and soul. And the more I’m around her, the worse it gets."

It’s hard to say much without being spoilery, but Willow makes some bad choices to get what she wants, what she thinks she could never have otherwise. Ebon can’t help himself and makes unwise decisions as well.  And oh boy, I have an impending sense of dread! I just hope this all works out.

There’s some mystery hinted at with Willow’s past that I’m anxious to find out, and I NEED to find out what happens with these two next.  Paige James did an excellent job hooking and reeling me in!

This novella literally takes no more than an hour and half to finish.  I don’t know the page count, but it shows real writing talent that Ms. James engaged me so completely in such a short amount of time.
