Today (Saturday, March 21st) I (Rachel) had the privilege of attending a big author
event: Authors Under the Lights in Universal City, California. There was a big
turnout but nothing overwhelming, making the event fun for all. I met a
Goodread friend who I regularly chat with on Goodreads, as well as a couple
more Goodreads addicts who happened to be in line ahead of me. I had fun chatting and laughing with these
fellow booklovers. No one gets the obsession
and passion for stories more than a fellow booklover and so it’s so easy to
click with them.
As usual my ability for coherent speech leaves me when
I go up for a signing and so I’m sure I come off as a total scatterbrain to the
authors, lol! Here’s a few that I met and “dazzled” with my “expert” linguistic
skills:
Jay Crownover:
I’m a big fan of Jay’s Marked Men series and now her
Welcome to the Point series. I asked Jay
if she plans on doing a book for Booker and Karsen (Karsen is Brysen’s younger
sister in Better When He’s Bold and Booker was basically their bodyguard) and
she said she’s hoping to tell their story in the future. This will have to wait
some because Karsen was under age at the time. I’d love a romance there,
though!
Shay Savage:
I loved Surviving Rain, Transcendence, and the Evan Arden series! Shay knows how to write a jackass/hero you can’t help to love! We
got to meet the male model for the cover of Transcendence too:
Jessica Park:
Flat-Out Love, Flat-Out Matt and Left Drowning were
amazing reads!
I brought some goodies to share. I have a SIGNED copy of each: Rule and Better When He's Bad by Jay Crownover, Left Drowning by Jessica Park, and Transcendence by Shay Savage as well as the Event Tote filled with bookmarks to give away to one Waves of Fiction Follower. The giveaway is open to US Residents only.
No, unfortunately I haven't yet. But I would love to attend a book signing.
ReplyDeleteGreat recap Rachel! Looks like the event was fun. So bummed I missed it. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Arlene! It wasn't the same without you. :(
DeleteNo I haven't but I would really love to
ReplyDeleteHell yes, I've gotten to meet Jamie Mcguire, Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, Katy Evans, Harper Sloan! And, my biggest fan girl moment was sitting and eating lunch with Alice Clayton!!
ReplyDeleteYay Karina! Arlene and I met Alice Clayton, and she seemed like she could be wicked funny. I bet that lunch was a blast! :)
DeleteNo, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any author's yet.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you had a great time, Rachel. It’s wonderful that you can meet with authors and fellow booklovers in real life.
ReplyDeleteI did, Ksenia. I feel lucky to live in a place where authors come through often. :)
DeleteI sadly haven't met any authors. I think that's due to my living in a small town. Thank you for the giveaway. I do hope I get a chance to go to a signing one day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to meet an author someday, too, Misti! Good luck in the giveaway. :)
DeleteYes I have met E.L. Montes, Nikki Worrell and Melissa Collins and I am going to met more in June which I can't wait until June gets here! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYay, Katiria! Have fun in June! Your welcome, and good luck in the giveaway. :)
DeleteI got to meet Barenaked Ladies at one of their concert, and got a signed copy of their kids book :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an added bonus, Jillyn! :)
DeleteI have not met any yet but would love to attend a book signing event like this soon! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOnly once :) Two popular YA and PNR authors came to my local B&N and it was so fun! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYes I have. D B Reynolds and a few others at a book signing 2 years ago. It was the best time one could have without get put in jail. It was to help solve illiteracy so I bought and had many books signed.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun and it's lovely you all did something to benefit the fight against illiteracy! :)
DeleteI have and I never tire of meeting them!
ReplyDeleteI met Rebecca Zanetti at the local BAM! but there are so many others I'd love to meet!
ReplyDeleteI got to meet Colleen Hoover, Jamie McGuire, and Abbi Glines!
ReplyDeleteI've never met any author, and sadly I think I never will because the book tours don't reach where I live...It sucks! I have to make up for it buying a lot of signed copies online! ;)
ReplyDeleteI went to Coastal Magic in Daytona Beach this past February and met a bunch of authors I love...Christopher Rice, Damon Suede, Lucienne Diver and Kristen Painter.....AND I got to have lunch with Carrie Ann Ryan and Larissa Ione!
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't met any author yet. It's on my bucket list though. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't met any of my favorite authors but hope to do so someday.
ReplyDeleteSadly I have yet to meet any authors yet. And RT is in my home home town this year and I still can't go because 1. my boss is out of town that week and 2. the big signing day is the same day as by daughters dance recital. I swear I am going to go one of these years!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I would love to meet Jay Crownover and Jessica Park! But I have met some of my favorite authors. This year I met Jay Asher and a couple years ago I met Marissa Meyer, Leila Sales, Melissa Landers, and Rae Carson on various book tours.
