The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
We're up in Northern California right now and have spent the last two days driving around looking at houses getting a feel for which neighborhoods we like and gauging the pricing. I liked a few of the houses we looked and we now have an idea of what we want. It's a start. Now to decide when to list our house. Probably not until middle of March or after Easter.
The gardens at Empire State Mine Historic Park in Grass Valley, California,
close to where we are looking.
Needless to say, I didn't get a bunch of reading done. I'll be finishing the latest Orphan X book tomorrow on our way home.

How was your week?
Oh what a beautiful park. It looks so peaceful. Good luck with the housing decisions! Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's scary and exciting at the same time!
DeleteWhat a beautiful pic. And good luck with the house hunting! I imagine it's exhilarating imagining what your next home will be. And northern Cal sounds so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We need to sell our house first and then start seriously looking but at least we nailed down the areas we like. Northern California is beautiful.
DeleteFun that your house hunting is going well. I took a field trip to Empire Mine when I was a kid. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, Rachel!
I want to go back there and see it when everything is in bloom and when we can take the tour. We didn't have that much time there.
DeleteSounds like a productive weekend, Rachel - at least narrowing down the areas to consider. Big decisions! Hope you find some time for reading this week. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a productive week, and I was happy with a lot of the areas we looked at. Thanks Tanya!
DeleteLooking at houses is fun though. The selling/moving part is stressful, but it must be exciting that you will soon be closer to your family. I wish I could afford to live closer to my daughter, but that's a pipe dream. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe did have fun especially because there were a lot of good options. Yeah, my daughter's city is super expensive so we're looking about 1.5-2 hours away from her. Still closer. She's 4.5 hours away now.
DeleteWow beautiful park
ReplyDeleteIt was really pretty and the flowers blooming smelled amazing!
DeleteI love the idea of living in Northern California but so many forest fires have plagues the region recently, that I am a little put off by that. But I hope you find a safe dream home!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a problem, but we have a lot of fires here in So Cal where we live too.
DeleteHouse shopping sounds like both the worst and the most fun of activities, in that there must be so many amazing homes out there and yet so much pressure... and money! I hope y'all find something you like soon! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely weekend :)

I agree! It's exciting and scary at the same time. Thanks! I hope so too and you have a lovely weekend as well!
DeleteNorthern California is so beautiful. Hope you get lots of reading in this week>
ReplyDeleteIt is really pretty! Thanks! You too!
DeleteYou'd go from one coast to the other Rachel! I hope you'll find your dream house though.
ReplyDeleteWe'll still be on the same coast, just more north. :)
DeleteBest of luck to you with the selling of your house and finding a new one. I find that process both stressful and exhilarating. That photo is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy! I totally agree. :)
DeleteThat park is lovely! Good luck finding a house.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteEnjoy house hunting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Regine!
DeleteI hope you find what you want; it looks like a great area. Enjoy that last Orphan X.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I hope so, too, Anne! Finished Orphan X when we got home and it was sooo good! I need the next book ASAP!
DeleteI love/hate looking at houses. I love it because it's always nice to see but hate it because I can't afford any lol
ReplyDeleteYes, houses are so expensive, but our own house has gone up a lot too so that helps.
Deletei guess you'll be on a richelle mead binge. lol looks like a beautiful area. i used to love moving, but have gotten old enough that it has become too much work. hope you enjoy the adventure and excitement of a new place
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I read all her books a while back. I'm giving away the books pictured in a giveaway. Yes, it's a lot of work! Thanks, Sherry!
DeleteI think I'm going to start the Orphan X series soon! Good luck on the house hunting/Selling!
ReplyDeleteIt's sooo good, Sam! I can't wait to hear what you think. :)
DeleteGood luck on the house hunting and moving! So much work involved in that. I love the picture from California, it gives great summer vibes. Have a good week. Here's my post if you'd like to stop by: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/02/stacking-shelves-10-sunday-post-7.html
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindy! It is a lot of work. Can't wait until it's all done. Hopefully by the end of this year.
DeleteIf I were to ever live in CA (which is unlikely) it would be the northern part of the state. I hope you are able to find a house and get your house on the market and sold quickly.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Valentine's Week.
Thanks, Renee!
DeleteGood luck finding just the right new house! And I hope you like Dead By Dawn. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lark! I'll be starting it tomorrow. :)
DeleteHouse hunting can be fun but stressful. I read the first 2 Orphan X books and wondering if I should go forward. Seems many bloggers are enjoying his newer books.
ReplyDeleteGood luck selling and finding a new house.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't realize you were moving! I hope that all goes well once you do list. :)
