The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
Happy Sunday!
Hope everyone had a lovely holiday! We had a quiet week here with a lot of rain (10 inches!), two days of power outage (we have a whole house generator, so not a big deal). We went out to dinner Friday night despite the pouring rain and had my sister and her husband over last night for their anniversary. We had tri-tip smoked on our Green Egg, Potatoes Romanoff, salad and apple pie made with the apple pie filling I caned from our apples this year. It was delicious and I ate way too much!
We head out to Montana to meet up with the kids this next week. I'm making chili while there that I might enter into a cookoff. We'll see.

The Storm by Rachel Hawkins-3.5 Stars
Carl's Doomsday Scenario (Dungeon Crawler Carl #2) by Matt Dinniman-5 Stars
I've been wanting to read the new Karin Slaughter since it came out back in August, but didn't have time. It's one of my favorites for 2025! The Dungeon Crawler Carl series is hilarious! The audios are the way to go. The books are on Kindle Unlimited and if you download them you an add the audio at a very discounted price. I already have book three on deck and hope to listen to it after I listen to a couple of library lends that are about to expire.
Purchased/Received:
The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook (Dungeon Crawler Carl #3) by Matt Dinniman
Remember That Day (Ravenswood #5) by Mary Balogh
The Magic of Untamed Hearts (Wild Magic #3) by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland
The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook is an audio purchase. Thank you to Berkley!

10 inches of rain. Wow! That's a lot! We are getting rain today and then it will be back to snow temperatures. I have to get the Karin Slaughter book on my library tbr
ReplyDeleteThis is a rainy place where I live, but it is generally only during a hurricane that we get ten inches in one day! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI bet that apple pie was fantastic. Good luck with the chili contest!
Wow, that's a lot of rain. We get around 5 inches a year.
ReplyDeleteWe have been getting freezing rain where I am at and it has not been fun. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat is a LOT of rain. Glad you have the generator and largely unaffected by the outage. Have a wonderful time in MT. Hope the chili is a hit (and maybe a blue ribbon winner?)
ReplyDeleteSo much rain! I know the generator is nice to have though I'm sure. My mom had one at her old house, hopefully she won't have to worry about it at her new house as much. I am thinking about making some chili myself with the winter weather that showed up today, lol. If only I had the ingredients. Have a nice trip! Oh, those are pretty flowers too. I was hoping the library had the Dungeon Crawler books on audio, but it doesn't look like it at the moment. I'll have to maybe use an Audible credit for it.
ReplyDeleteWell you may need the rain but that's a lot all at once. Does your area often lose power that you have a generator? I hope you have a nice trip. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I don't know how much rain we got in L.A. but it was relentless. I don't know what potatoes Romanoff are but they sound delicious. I know that apple pie with homemade filling was to die for. I always make myself sick on anything made with homemade apple stuff. We won't talk about the apple tart my sister made once. I hope you enter and win the chili cook-off!
ReplyDeleteCalifornia is getting so much rain. I'm glad you have your generator. We were in Florida for the holidays, and it was sunny and warm the whole time. It was such a nice break from the cold of home. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, just as well you have a generator!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip to Montana, and good luck if you enter the Chili contest
Wishing you a wonderful reading week, and a very happy New Year
Oh my 10 inches of rain. You'll need a boat soon. Glad you have a generator. Another pretty puzzle, love the winter scene. Enjoy the trip to Montana and good luck with the chili.
ReplyDeleteSo much rain!! We had a little snow this morning that melted by the afternoon. That's all the water we've had recently. 😅
ReplyDeleteThe food sounds delicious and now I'm considering a midnight snack... LOL. I just finished The Storm and really liked it!
That's a lot of rain! Hope you have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteNow I want apple pie!
Have a great week!
