Sunday Post #339

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

If you're in the States, hope everyone you're enjoying the long weekend! I had to work yesterday so we didn't make any plans, which is fine since I try to avoid going on vacation over holiday weekends.

We went to that historical event on Wednesday with my sister and BIL and enjoyed it. I had read a bunch about The Donner Party not long after moving to Northern California after realizing the location wasn't far from us, but I had forgotten a lot and the presenters did the trail around the same time of yearThe Donner had traveled so they shared their experiences.

Still working on weeding out the rose garden and making plans to go to Southern California again to see my in-laws and our son.  Also making plans for Montana. We may drive at the end of June and fly in July. Flights are so expensive right now, which I'm guessing is because of the never ending war going on.

Snapdragons blooming again.

Picked some wild Sweet Pea blooming along my walking trail

  2. My library has a new cataloging system and it doesn't add books to the catalog until they are almost ready to be checked out. I was finally able to request The Shippers this week. Good luck with your travel plans to Montana.

  3. I love a holiday weekend at home! You always have lots of great trips and plans. I think even once the never-ending war is over, it will still continue to be expensive because relationships have been ruined. We are just doing the one trip and driving. But we like it at home. Your flowers are so lovely. I LOVED The Final Target.

  5. Love the flowers. I just bought tickets for our annual trip to MI in July. The prices weren't super bad, but about $50-75 more (each) than last year.

I have If Books Could Kill to read too.

    Thanks for sharing your week

  7. Happy Memorial Day! Your snapdragons are gorgeous. I have some blooming in my backyard, but they're not the tall variety. I love them, though; definitely one of my favorite flowers. And that bird puzzle is awesome. :D

  8. I'm not a fan of taking trips over summer holiday weekends, either. The Donner presentation sounds so good. I watched a History Channel special on it not long ago and there were two couples on it who did the trail, too.

Beautiful blooms and wow, four 5-stars in one week. Woohoo!

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  9. The Snapdragons look wonderful. I binge-watched the Borroughs and nursed this stupid cold and cold over the weekend.

  10. The bird puzzle is terrific! I just saw a few yellow goldfinch at our feeder which is a bit rare ... they only appear like once a year here. And your snap dragons and Sweet Pea flowers are so pretty. Glad you enjoyed the Donner Party talk ... that's such a tragic episode in history. Oh my goodness I've read like three books on it ... and each time I try to make it so they survive without all the awful stuff. Enjoy your books.

  11. Wow, your garden in beautiful. Love your snapdragons. I had some that died on me. :( I need to try planting them again. Pruning our Florida orchid, last week, we found a cardinal nest--with babies! That was so neat! Anyway, I hope you have a good week. If you'd like to see my Sunday post, it's up on my blog now.

    1. Thank you! What an amazing discovery! We don't get cardinals out here so I'd be so excited to see them.

  13. The flowers are all so beautiful! I only know the basics about the Donner Party, but would like to learn more. I love that you are getting all those historical events to go to! I need to check out some of your reviews soon!
