It's been a busy and hot week here! Friday we got to 106F, the hottest day of the year so far. It's cooled off into the upper 90s since then, but still, it's hot! Our son, DIL, and our two grandkids (3 1/2 and 2 yrs old boys!) came up for a visit which is why I've been a bit MIA. Lots of activity! We had dinners with my sister and BIL, went to the pool, went rafting/floating on the Truckee River, and then the local bookstore with a neat kids section and then the candy store.

They left on Friday afternoon. Sad to see them go. Now we're recuperating.
Went to lunch yesterday (Saturday) and shopping at Trader Joe's.
The garden has been producing a lot! We're having a bunch in wraps and tonight I'm making pasta with tomatoes, basil and shrimp.

Yes it was fun. Thankfully the rafting was at a higher elevation and we went early so it wasn't terribly hot. My garden is doing well! I can't keep up with the output of tomatoes. I need to plant less next year.

DeleteI will take hot temps over cold any day. LOL If the humidity is high too, that can be awful.
ReplyDeleteI'm opposite. I like the cold weather more than the hot, but my husband likes the hot weather more, too. Thankfully, we don't have high humidity here for the most part.

DeleteAgain, that is hot! How wonderful that you had your family visit. It's great to spend time with them, especially when they live away from you. I miss my garden, but it was just too much work for me with all the yard and pool stuff. Luckily there are several local farms that sell their fresh produce. I requested The Heiress of Northanger Abbey, but was declined, so now have to wait for the library to get a copy. I hope you have a lovely, quieter week, Rachel.
