About the book:
A VOW FOR VENGEANCE
Fleeing to the Highlands after her father’s murder, fiery Morrigan Drummond has a score to settle with Sir Rupert Burney, the English spymaster responsible for his death. Trained to fight alongside the other rebels determined to break Britain’s hold on Scotland, she swears to avenge her father’s death—until a chance encounter with a barrister as proud and principled as she is presents her with a hard choice…and a bittersweet temptation.
A PLEA FOR PASSION
Aidan Grant has never encountered another woman like dangerous beauty Morrigan—and he has the bruises to prove it. Yet she could be the key to defending two innocent men, as well as striking a death blow to the reprehensible Burney. Convincing Morrigan to help him will take time, but Aidan is willing to wait if it means victory over corrupt government forces and freedom for his people…and Morrigan’s hand in marriage. Can two warriors committed to a cause stand down long enough to open their hearts to a love fierce enough to last…forever?
My
Thoughts:
This story touches on real-life historical events with the British
and Scots at odds, Scots enduring harsh conditions and oppression by the ones
who were supposed to rule and protect them. I’m not well versed at all in the history
that is the backdrop for this story, but it seems that the human condition is
the same in any time period gone by.
I loved Aiden and Morrigan’s story! At odds at first, with
lots of back and forth, while the sexual tension sparked between them. Love the fun push and pull! Both had their
motivations, each striving for right, and the good of their people, but I felt
the care and devotion between them. They
thought of others before themselves and it was inspiring.
Okay, so am I the only reader who can’t put their thoughts together
for a proper review? I’m sure my words don’t properly highlight this story, but
I can tell you that I really enjoyed Highland Sword! It managed to take me away
from all the Covid-19 worries and entertain me.
The perfect escape!

Great cover.
ReplyDeleteAny bookish escape is good right now! Especially one set in Scotland. :D
ReplyDeleteWhen I first glanced at the cover I thought maybe you were reviewing an old backlist title. I don't know what it is exactly but the cover looks so dated to me. *shrugs* I had to laugh that the villain's name is Burney because that was my maiden name. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with an escape. I've been holding off on reviewing a recent read because I can't organize my thoughts either. I think our minds get a pass for being a tad preoccupied!
ReplyDeleteNope, not the only scatterbrained reviewer. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good enemies to lovers with a good historical setting for that.
I need that green dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this story was the perfect escape. I enjoy a push-pull romance, and I love that it gives you some history along the way!
