Sunday Post #81

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

Work has been busy so by the time I got home every day I was exhausted and so I didn't get much reading or blogging done last week. It's also been boiling hot in my area, over a 100 degrees most days (today is supposed to 105) and I'm already done with Summer!

I traveled up to my daughters on Thursday and we had a nice time. I did a 5 mile hike that was about half shad half sun and even though I started at 8:30 am it got to be in the 90s by the time I got to the top. I didn't feel that great after because of the heat, but it was beautiful.

I'm on my way home as I'm writing up this (late) Sunday Post.

Settling an Old Score was fun and my first read of Delores Fossen. I love Allison Brennan's mystery/crime procedurals, and it was nice having Maxine and Lucy working together again. Maxine Revere is my favorite series by Allison Brennan.

Got a library e-copy of The Veil, but I'll wait until the audio copy comes through before I start it. This will be my first Chloe Neil.

Archive was a strange movie. Not sure I liked it, but it held my attention.

How was your week?

  1. Looks like you had a great week there. I am enjoying the summertime actually, more than I normally do. Probably because of all the lockdown stuff I just want fresh air and warm sun lol I love those hikes though and it looks like you had some beautiful scenery to hike in.

I have been exhausted from work too, thankfully its slowly getting better.

  2. Ugh 105! Its been hot here (90's) but not THAT hot. Even still, its just nice to be outside after the quarantine.

  3. Yeah, that's hot. Glad you had a good hike with your family and time to visit.
I need to try Dolores Fossen's books and get on Alison Brennan's books after enjoying my first one earlier this year.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  4. Yes I much prefer all the seasons other than this hot time in July. Ihave just started to read Allison Brennan and I am not to that trilogy yet. That's a great place to start with Chloe Neil as it's a shorter series. I really loved the audio so I think that's a good choice.

Have a wonderful week and stay well!

  5. I hate it when it's hot like that. And I thought 90's was bad. :)

That dried up waterfall pic is interesting! Sounds like an amazing hike.

  6. You're hardcore. It's too hot to do outside things. I know, dry heat, but 90 is still hot. Glad you enjoyed the view though.

  7. I agree with you about the heat! I'm ready for cooler weather, but I know we'll have to wait until at least October for any relief here in Texas.

  8. Woah, hiking in that weather had to have been though! I'm so grateful I have a pool - otherwise, I'd be wayyyy over the summer.

  11. It has been sooo hot here this week! We've been going for long walks and hiking to get out of the house, but now the kiddos can't handle being outdoors for long periods of time. Like you, I am over summer and looking forward to cooler weather. I also wish the yellow flies would GO AWAY, because they make dawn and dusk miserable.

  12. It sounds so hot, it’s barely 20 Celsius here in Scotland and we are complaining that its warm!

    Your hike sounds lovely.

    Have a good week.

  13. Ugh hiking in that heat would not be my choice of summer activity!

Wishing you a great reading week, and cooler weather

  14. I’m feeling pretty over summer, too, and it’s only July. It’s going to be a long one. I hope this week at work is easier on you. Archive may have been strange but it had to be nice to stare at Theo James for 2 hours. LOL
