Sunday Post #171

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

It's been a busy week. I worked and then my husband and I drove down to Irvine (Southern California) for a work dinner (his work). We stayed overnight at the hotel it was held at. It's very close to Huntington Beach and so the weather was nice, but there was a lot of traffic and noise by the hotel. We drove back up north on Saturday morning to my daughter's house and had dinner with them, stayed the night and now we're on our way home. A lot of driving in three days. Sixteen hours! I'm just going to relax and read when I get home.

The weather should be marginally cooler this next week, high 80s to low 90s and I hope to get some running in finally.

I didn't read the Addicted to You series back when it came out, but it's being re-released by Berkley and they offered it up so I'll give it a shot. It seems a little angsty for my tastes, but my co-blogger from The Readers Den, Jasprit loved it. Love these Harlequin Desire romances. They're shorter and usually fun. A lot of fellow bloggers praised The Dead Romantics so I requested and audio copy at the library and it came through. Look forward to it!

This would be a perfect spooky read for the Fall/Halloween season!

How was your week?

  3. Wow, that is a lot of traveling in a short period of time. I hope you were able to relax after all of that. I loved The Dead Romantics when I read it. Hope it's a great read for you. :)

    1. Yeah, I know! I didn't get much rest as I intended. There was a lot to do when I got home, but I'm off Wed-Friday so I hope I get some rest. I have more family coming this next weekend!

      I'm looking forward to it!

  4. Sometimes I forget how LONG Cali is. Like I could drive from one in of Ohio to the other (even diagonally from Cincy to Cleveland) in 4 hours tops.

    1. Oh, wow! Didn't really think about Ohio being so small, but I guess it is. California is a long state. Oregon is a shorter one, too. I noted this when I did our lighthouse trip along the Pacific Coast a few years back. I love the Oregon and Washington coast!

  5. That is a lot of driving! Hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend to recuperate. :)

I do like the look of that Megan Miranda book. I've only read one book by her but I enjoyed it. That's a great suggestion, I might slot that one in October for a nice Halloween read. :)

    1. Yes! I'm used to these long drives. I feel like it's been my life the last 5 years. It would be a great Fall/Halloween read, Greg!

  6. It's been interesting seeing pubs reissuing some older series. I have that Addicted book, but I have never read it. Curious to know if it was updated at all or if it holds up. That is a LOT of driving. Bless you! I couldn't do it.

    1. Yeah, I didn't really want to do it either, lol! But it was for my husband and I want to support him, plus he's doing all the driving so it's worse for him. I try and read or listen to an audio book so it's not all lost time.

It's weird how a few series' are be reissued. Like the Ruby Dixon Planet Barbarians and now The Addicted series. I downloaded the copy they sent but noticed I had already purchased it a long time ago and I was able to add the audible narration for $1.99 so it won't be too bad adding it to my TBR. I hope it's good.

  7. My sisters both live near Irvine, so I go there a few times a year. It's a busy place! I'll be reading Addicted to You soon as well. Yes, it sounds very angsty.

    1. Yes, and I was in the downtown part so more so, but I know there's some really nice areas down there. My old co-worker lived down there and close to the beach and it was a really nice place!

I hope not too angsty! Crossing my fingers.

  8. I have heard good things about that Addicted to You series as well but yeah I hear its angsty. I tried it once and just wasn't in the mood for it, but plan on returning to it. Looks like you had a good week despite the hot temps. Don't you just love the height of summer time haha

    1. Yes, I have to be prepared/in-the-mood for that kind of angst. Hope we both love it, Renee! Yes, and yay, it's supposed to cool down a bit! I would like to just skip over summer if you don't mind, lol!

  9. You always seem so busy that I have no idea how you get any reading done at all.

    1. I'm more busy than I want to be, Carrie! I hope things settle down soon. The move made my life crazy. So did the job transfer! I'm settling in there, now. Lately the only way I get reading done is by audiobooks! I'm burning through my purchased credits, but I did read a good chunk of an e-ARC this weekend. I was so happy about that!

  13. I think I'd have a mental breakdown if I drove for 16 hours. It would be fun to visit new places, though. Have a great week!
