Sunday Post #298

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

It's been an uneventful week, just the usual: work, gardening (lots of weeding!), cats, puzzles, reading and exercise. I go on walks and run, but also do weight routines from someone I follow on Instagram: @carolinescircuits. I love her routines! I'm trying to lose a few pounds before our next Montana trip. I'm just a few pounds over what I'd like to be, but boy is it tough to lose weight in my 50s!

My husband and I went to dinner with my sister and her husband downtown. I work tomorrow (Sunday), which is a bummer because I'll miss out on the Innkeeper Chronicles for the read along hosted by Anne @Books of My Heart

My blue hydrangeas are starting to bloom

St. John's Wart that grows wild in the yard

Starla helping with my latest puzzle.

It was pretty cool yesterday and today. Didn't break 70 degrees for our high and we sat by the fire outside last night and tonight.

  3. Battle of the Books sounds really good! Girl, I am so close to being 50 (November is closing in fast) and it feels impossible to lose weight. Lol. It's really uncool.

    1. It was delightful! I know, right?! Still, I keep trying because the alternative wouldn't be healthy.

  4. I don't have to lose weight but my husband do and yes, it's difficult to shed said weight when you are over 50! Good luck with your training Rachel, you can do it!

    1. Thanks, Sophie. I've always been active and health conscious, but I've struggled with 5 stubborn pounds which doesn't sound like a lot but makes a difference when you're 5'2".

  6. I'll miss you on the chat. I hope you are successful at the weight loss. I was very successful in my 50s but now it's even harder. I have the same kind of blue hydrangeas and I love them but the deer ate a lot of them.

    1. I was bummed I didn't get to join in! I'd like to lose like 5lbs, but they aren't coming off easy. I've been struggling for a while now! I'd be ticked if the deer got into my hydrangeas. I have mine in a fenced off area, but they've munched before we had it fenced. I love them, but it's frustrating.

  8. Uneventful weeks are nice! I have some reviews of yours to read I think! Especially the Bookstore one. It's been too hot here this past week. I am like you and can't seem to lose any weight, it's been that way since my 40s it seems and now in my 50s it's impossible. I had hoped to lose a bit before my cruise next month, but at this rate I guess I'm just embracing my fat and going with it. Hope you have a good week!

    1. I love my hydrangeas and they seem to like where they are. St. John's Wort grows wild here and there's really no upkeep other than a bit of water so a win! You have a great week too!

  10. I love hydrangeas, the house I grew up in had them all over one side of the yard. They were so pretty.

It is hard to lose weight in our 50's. Good luck getting to te weight you want to.

    1. They're one of my favorite flowers! They were hard to grow with the heat when I lived in Southern California. Had to have just the right spot. Yes it is! Thanks, Mary.

  11. After your travels last week, I'm glad you got a quiet week around home. Lovely yard blooms and cute cat stretched out- mine like to lay along my puzzle board, too. Good luck with the weight routines- nice to add to your exercise routine with the walks/runs. Cozy fire each night. Our backyard neighbor and his wife like to sit out by their fire pit and look at the stars.
I got the latest Anna Lee Huber, too.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  15. I know so many women who changed dramatically in their 50s. My niece is a pe teacher and she gains weight even though her eating habits have not changed. Frustrating.

    Love the flowers!

  18. Love your solo stove! I got one for Christmas, but it's been too hot to use it haha. Is that the surround that they make? That was my one complaint with it. I want to put my feet up!
