Sunday Post #100!

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

So Blogger is irritating the crap out of me. Ugh. I hate when features are made more complicated!  Sorry, things that may be of little consequence seem more annoying when you're trying to put together a post at 10:30 at night.

Irritations aside, I had a busy week at work with Covid cases on the rise and I was happy when Thursday was over (I don't work Fridays). I've been trying to eat healthier and exercise every day so that took up time, but I'm happy to feel like I'm taking positive steps to maintain my health.

I got notification that my hospital is gearing up to start administering the Covid vaccine when it's deemed safe by the FDA and their independent review. I'll be taking the vaccine when it's offered to me.

My husband and I went over to our son and daughter-in-law's house for dinner tonight and enjoyed our time together!

  1. I'm sorry Blogger is causing you headaches, Rachel. Sometimes, I feel like blogging platforms change things just to be able to say they 'improved' something.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. The "improved" part remains to be seen with this supposed upgrade. *sigh*

      Thanks! You too! :)

  2. For the most part I've got used to the new Blogger platform, but there are a few aspects that bug me. Formatting things that became harder and less intuitive. Ugh. I'll certainly be ready for the vaccine, too, when it's available, although I'm sure I'll be way further down the line than you are! Glad you had a good family visit last night. :)

    1. Yeah, I have no idea why they changed things. I guess it will take a while for everyone to get a vaccine. Hopefully by next April. Thanks, Tanya! :)

  3. I bet you are super busy, but I am glad you are making time to take care of yourself. My mother signed up for the J&J-Rutgers trail. I am glad they were able to get a vaccine so quickly, and we can maybe protect those who need it.

  4. I am hoping you get your vaccines soon, because you all really need it. Stay safe until then!

  5. I spot an Elizabeth Hoyt novel among your read books, love this author :) And I hope there'll be a sequel to Enola Holmes too. I'm mostly happy with Blogger, but it's true I often copy/paste posts so I'll just have to modify the contents but not the general appearance. Stay safe :)

  6. I really enjoyed Enola Holmes too! Fingers crossed there is a sequel. I have no idea how close to the book it was but not having read the books (nor am I likely to) I don't really care! lol

The vaccine news is exciting. Apparently the first vaccinations will happen next week in the UK. I'll take the vaccine but I'll be so far down the prioritisation list it'll probably be late summer before I get anywhere close to it. 😂 Ah well... Every step forward is a step closer to normal, right?!

    1. It was cute! Yeah, I probably wouldn't read the books either.

I think that's the time frame out here, too. I doubt it'll be widely distributed for some time. I can't wait for things to go back to normal. Except for the traffic that is! That's about the only bonus for me. :)

  7. Even though I am not for companies forcing ppl to take the vaccine, I just want life to get back to normal again, so I will take it --just not looking forward to the sick part of it. I can't wait to read Devil In Her Bed----Byrne is one of the best authors for historical. Hope you enjoy that one as well.

    1. Yep, I love Byrne too!

Our hospital isn't forcing us to take the vaccine. It's totally up to each individual, but I am happy they're providing it to us. I'm not sure that any company could force someone to take the vaccine anyhow. They weren't able to force the flu shot and I'm sure it's the same with the Covid vaccine. Even if they did, though, I've been doing research and I have no problem taking it.

  8. I think I'll take the vaccine too, even if long lasting effects are still unknow as I want to live normally again! Stay safe rachel. And yes Enola Holmes was fun!

  9. Hey Rachel, my week was okay, thank you. Sadly my area is still in the highest restrictions in England, but thankfully the shops are open so I could do some Christmas shopping and I started putting my Christmas decorations to cheer myself up! 🎄

I am pleased to hear you have made progress with your healthy lifestyle changes and that you were able to spend some time with your family. In the coming week stay safe and happy reading.🙂

    1. We're also in the strictest tier of restrictions here as well. Being in Los Angeles County even though I'm on the far north outskirts sucks. I don't get some of the restrictions either. Retail shopping is open but outdoor dining is shut down? Who knows their rationale. I guess things are looking up with a vaccine about to release.

  10. Ive heard lots of complaints lately about blogger! Sorry for the headache!
I am waiting for my doc to get more info on the vaccine. I had an anaphalatic reaction to the flu vaccine years ago. We never figured out why. Since then, I can use the nasal vaccine without issue, but the only doc who will administer vaccines to me is my allergy doc so we are prepared for a reaction. We don't know if there are any studies/warnings about reactions yet. Hopefully we will know soon so I can get it when its available to me.

    1. Oh, I hope you don't have any reactions! I do know that the vaccine isn't like past vaccines, though. It doesn't use a weakened or inactivated germ to trigger immunity, rather it's what's called a mRNA vaccine which teaches our cells to make a "spike protein" to fight the virus. I found the whole description of the process very interesting! So maybe it wouldn't produce the same reaction as the flu virus in you?

  11. Happy 100th post! And I hear you on Blogger. It's killing me lately, every post is a pain now... I'm trying to eat healthier also. It's a struggle!

I had a talk with my mom about the vaccine because she's afraid to get it. I'm going to try and give her as much info as possible and hope she takes it- she's high risk.

    I loved Enola Holmes!!!

    1. I was a bit nervous too until I did some research. Hope your mom gets the info she needs to make an informed decision. Yes, Enola Holms was fun! I hope there's a sequel. :)

  12. Blogger has been a pain. The improvements just made simple things harder so I don't get it. It will be interesting to see how each area rolls out the vaccine. I really need to get busy trying to get healthier since I let things slide during the move. I hope you have a great week, Rachel!

    1. Yeah, not sure what was supposed to be an improvement.

I think it's hard to make an effort to be healthy when you're really busy. Hope things settle down somewhat for you! Thanks, you too! :)

  13. I hate that Blogger complicated every little thing that used to be so simple and straightforward with their "improvements". It takes twice as long now to do anything. Ugh. Hope you have a good week! :)

  14. All the changes with anything are rough to deal with whether it is Facebook or Blogger or Wordpress. I think we are all too stressed for the changes. I'm also on the get healthier train. Have a great week and stay well.

  16. I feel your pain blogger has been a royal pain in the butt, I ended up having to reinstall my template.

The vaccine starts getting deployed this week in Scotland with frontline workers being vaccinated between now and February. I hope it makes the difference they are promising.

    Have a good week.

I hope so too, Heather! Thanks! You too!

  17. What a pain that there are changes right when you're working on a strict time limit. Whew, I can't imagine what it's like working hospital shifts right now, but you're doing amazing with the home health and nutrition to be the strongest you can be. I'm excited that the vaccine is getting closer.

The Magical Christmas Cat looks good. I want to see Enola Holmes.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

    1. I feel like we've settled into our new norm at the hospital. We just gown and mask the hell up. Is tiring, though. Me too! I would like to get back to some normals here.

Enola Holms was fun! You too, Sophia Rose! :)

  18. I hope medical workers are being prioritised for the vaccine. Our government is being cautious and we have no word yet on when it will roll out, but then we have no community cases so it’s not an urgent situation.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. They are prioritizing health care workers and nursing home residents. I'm happy for you that you don't have many community cases in your region. I wish that were the case here. There's light at the end of the tunnel, though.

      Thanks! You too, ShellyRae! :)

  19. Yay for getting to spend time with family! It really is important this time of year with the holidays and truly, just because of this year alone. I refuse to let this madness ruin anything else for my family right now.

  20. That's great your work is getting ready for the Covid vaccine and you can get it (hopefully) soon. I still need to watch Enola Holmes!!!
