Sunday Post #221

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

The week felt off kilter with my daughter, SIL, and the grandkids staying through Tuesday and the long holiday weekend. It was a nice visit, but a really busy one. My daughter and I love doing puzzles and did two while she was here and I just completed one on my own listening to Fourth Wing with my husband as I worked it.

Puzzling with Peanut

My fall puzzle completed

I haven't felt 100% battling a sore throat and cough since they left. I slept in and stayed home working in the garden some today (Saturday).

My Dahlia tubers are finally starting to bloom

The weather has been gorgeous, still a little hot at the top of the day about 80-85, but it cools down quickly. Fall is in the air.

Still behind on my reading. I'm almost finished with Fourth Wing and another book. Hopefully I'll get through more books this next week. I plan on staying home all day tomorrow (Sunday).

Visited this indie bookstore in town twice with my daughter and the grandkids. They had an amazing kids section. Thrilled that the grandkids already have a love of reading!

How was your week?

    1. It was such a wonderful place to visit, especially because it was raining outside. I knew of the bookstore, but didn't realize it had a whole downstairs section dedicated to kids. So neat! Thanks, Greg!

  4. My daughter loved the Magic Treehouse books. It's fun to see kids still reading them. I hope you are feeling better. Every time I have a sore throat, I think I have Covid again. It's terrible. What a fun way to listen to audiobooks - doing puzzles! Great multitasking.

    1. I remember reading a few of them with my kids. They were fun! I'm thrilled my grandson has taken to reading so much. He's so athletic, so I didn't think he'd be the one loving to read.

  6. I enjoy a good puzzle now and then too - it's been forever since I did one, so maybe it's time again now that the weather is starting to change - Once I'm forced inside more, I'm going to pull one out. Enjoy your books - looks like a good variety. Have a terrific week and thanks for the visit.

    1. Yes, puzzles were so nice to do when we had a ton of snow and were stranded here with no power. You have a great week, too, Terrie!

  8. I hope the sore throat goes away Rachel! Here many people are sick and most with COVID again, luckily this is usually mild but...

    1. I'm feeling a lot better now. I know! It's on the rise. I need to look into the new booster. I know I have to get a flu shot in October.

  9. You are able to do much harder puzzles than me. I'm glad you had the family time. I hope you feel better soon though. I did finish The Last Devil to Die last night and it is a winner. I'll look forward to seeing what you thought of Fourth Wing. See you later!

  11. I went out of town with my mom for Labor Day weekend, and while the trip was nice and relaxing in itself, I still felt like I had a ton to catch up on all week and then this weekend. So I get it! That flower blooming is so pretty! I need to read Fourth Wing as well, bought my copy when I could finally find them again, but just don't know when I'll fit it into my schedule. You've got a few other books on my TBR as well! Have a great week!

  14. I’m a little surprised Peanut hasn’t destroyed the puzzle, my MIL had to get a big sheet of Perspex to lay over the puzzle whenever she left it alone cause her cat would destroy it :)

Wishing you a great reading week, and I hope you feel better soon

    1. He does sometimes lay in the middle and fusses with the pieces with his paws, but mostly he's not too destructive. He usually just wants my attention, lol. Thank you! You too! :)

  20. As much as I like company, I am often happy when they leave so I can get back to normal. My allergies have been crazy with stuffiness, sore throat and headaches, so I know how you feel. Enjoy your upcoming reads, Rachel.
