Sunday Post #345

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

It's been a warm week here with temps in the 80s and 90s. Summer is definitely here! Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our anniversary, thirty-nine years! We went to dinner at a a historic hotel in Nevada City (in California) and had nice evening out.

Other than that nothing too exciting here, just the same getting out for walks and runs, early because of the heat. Keeping the garden in shape with deadheading and weeding and work. Work has been unusually busy which is surprising because the summers are usually slower.

We're getting ready to head to Montana again this week. This time we'll be flying.

  1. Such beautiful flowers! You're a bit cooler and looks like you are getting some rain. Montana should be cooler I'd think being north but maybe at home is higher elevation. Have a safe trip!

    1. Thanks, Anne! It's a little cooler in Montana, but not by much. It did sprinkle here today and it was cloudy yesterday and today, but hot and humid! Thanks! I hope so.

    1. Thanks! We got married young and it hasn't always been an easy road, but we're still together and happy about it!

  4. Happy 39th anniversary! 🎉 It sounds like you celebrated in such a lovely way. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Montana, and here’s hoping work slows down a bit so you can enjoy the rest of your summer. Happy reading! 📚🤍

  5. You've been together for 39 years? Talk about a milestone! Congrats!

The temps have been crazy here, too. I literally can't function in the heat. It's like hibernating in the wrong season - I spend my days in front of a fan and read/blog. For three months every year. Can't muster the energy for anything else. I don't know how you find the strength to work in the garden...

You cats sure love lying down on your unfinished puzzles 😂.

"Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt" is a catchy title - I must look the book up!

    1. Yes! Crazy, right? We got married really young. I'm not a fan of the heat either, but thankfully we have good air conditioning here. As for the garden I try to work in it early or late. Middle of the day I feel like I'm going to melt! They do love it! Also, if they lay down in the center of one I have to pay attention to them. They don't like to be ignored, lol!

  7. Happy Anniversary! Love seeing you've had a lasting marriage and still sound like best buds with your projects and trips together. Nevada City had some lovely restaurants and shops even when I was still living out there. Neat puzzle and gorgeous garden flowers in bloom.

Have a lovely week in Montana, Rachel!

    1. Thank you, Sophia! We are a good team and get along really well. I'm not going to say we didn't have difficult times over the years but we've stuck it out and it's paid off. Nevada City is a really cute, historic town. I forget you didn't live that far from here! Thank you!

  10. Happy Anniversary! Beautiful flowers in that picture. Doesn't look like Starla is helping with the puzzle, lol. Another trip to Montana should be nice, but I'm sure flying will help save time so you can just be there and enjoy the time. Have a good week!

    1. We've always flown. Last time was the first time we drove and it was a fun trip because we did some sight seeing and visited Grand Tetons on the way. Thanks! You, too, Lisa!

  11. Happy Anniversary - that's an achievement and hope you have a great time in Montana. Starla is beautiful - but perhaps I'm biased as she could be Amari's littermate with those markings. Have a lovely week:).

  12. Happy Anniversary! My folks hit their 39th last month!

The heat is definitely here, and I'm doing everything I can to keep my poor flowerbeds in good enough condition. Thankfully, I have a good amount of TX natives, so they're doing okay.

I'll be in LA later this week, looking forward to "cooler" weather!
