Sunday Post #12

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

I'm up in Northern California again and it's rainy and cold. It's really pretty, though, with the hills turning green. My schedule is still out of whack even with the holidays out of the way.  Doing a lot of traveling back and forth from Southern California to Northern California so I feel like I'm hardly at home lately and that won't change for a few weeks. Still, I was able to get four books read, three mysteries and a romance. One was a novella.

Read:

The Last Time I Lied was a great mystery, I just wished there was more romance.  The Guy Who Died Twice was a fun mystery novella that felt very Agatha Christie, and The Boy was an amazing second installment to Tami Hoag's Broussard & Fourcade series!  I was surprised to get it being the first book released twenty years ago! The One You Fight For was my second favorite of the series, and the publisher is hosting a giveaway HERE if you're interested.

Received/Purchased/Library Lend:

The first three are library lends, and all audio books! I'll be getting a good start with my 2019 Audio Book Challenge.  I borrowed The Liar's Girl after reading Blodeuedd's wonderful review. I've seen Nicole Helm around and wanted to give her books a try so we'll see how Cowboy SEAL Redemption turns out.  I read a review of The White Christmas Inn on another blog and now I can't remember which blog it was! (Sorry!) I requested it at the library right after and it just came through. 99 Percent Mine is a last minute approval from Edelweiss! I requested like two months ago and I just received approval on Thursday and the book releases on this coming Wednesday! I'm happy to get approval, but I won't be reviewing before the release date.

Watched:

I didn't get much T.V. watching done, but did watch this when my Grandson had a Toy Story marathon.  He's three and watched the first one while I was cooking and then I actually sat down and watched this one, number three which I had never seen before.  Not as good as the original, but still cute.  Some pretty funny moments meant for adults, too.

How was your week?

  3. The weather has been perfect here but we have not had rain in a long time. I should not expect that living out here in Dubai, a desert. Have a great week ahead.

    1. We don't get as much rain in Southern California as Northern California but it happened to rain in both locations this weekend. We needed it down South since we're like a desert, too. You, too, Gayathri! :)

  5. Late approvals are the worst for me, because they throw my schedule off, but they are usually for books I really wanted. I enjoyed 99 Percent Mine. I especially loved the ending. A Toy Story marathon is always great. Your grandson has good taste.

    1. I know! I'm not going to kill myself to review it during the release week. I'm already committed to other books now. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it, though, Sam. I'm glad Toy Story is pretty good since he wanted to watch it over and over! You know how three-year-olds are!

  6. In just a few weeks, I will be having to go out of town every weekend for about a month. I am already dreading the back and forth. I really like the Toy Story movies. I always think it is a bit strange when last minute approvals happen but good for you for getting the book you wanted. I requested 99 Percent Mine from the library and hope to get it pretty soon. Have a great week!

    1. I know, and the whole story of the approval is weird, but I won't bore you with the details. Hope we both love it, Carole, and thanks, you too!

  9. I'm actually a little jealous that you're getting time in NorCal where I grew up. :) But, I get it that all the back and forth gets old.
Very nice on the book haul. I saw that one at Blodeuedd's blog and thought it looked interesting, too.
    Have a great week, Rachel!

  10. I'm seeing The One You Fight For around a lot and it seems to be getting good feedback. I have a Roni Loren novella to read on the kindle and, if I like it, I think I'll be reading this one too. :)

    1. You should give it a go, Nicci! Roni Loren is one of my favorite writers. I like her erotica a little bit better than this series, though.

    1. I know, after watching Toy Story 3 I'm not sure what they'll do, but I'm sure I'll be watching it at some point, lol. Thanks, it's not so bad since I get to see my grand-kids and my daughter so it worth the hassle.

  12. Oh how I love the Toy Story movies! I can't wait for the new one to come out. I am kinda nervous about 99 Percent Mine and if it's going to live up to her last book. I loved it so much. Have a great week!!

  13. Mystery was my go-to genre when I was working lots of hours. I enjoy that series from Lisa Gardner but I didn't realize it was a novella. I think I have it on reserve at the library. Or I should. Enjoy your reads this week! Anne - Books of My Heart
