Sunday Post #44

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

Another week of hot temps, I don't even want to exercise at all, but at least Fall is right around the corner right? My daughter came down to Southern California with my grand kids so we've been entertaining the kiddos all day.  My grandaughter (17 mos old) is currently having her bath in my kitchen sink as I type this at the counter, lol. Hubby and I are taking turns watching her.

After reading and loving How to Love a Duke in Ten Day by Kerrigan Byrne I downloaded The Highwayman. It was really good and I plan on reading more of her backlist soon. Outfox was another win by Sandra Brown with her signature twists and a sizzling romance! Bringing Down the Duke was sooo good! Can't wait for book two. 99 Percent Mine was a DNF for me. I couldn't take the heroine and I don't like reading a romance where the couple (or in this case, the hero) that's supposed to be together are with someone else.

Falling in Love was a fun Netflix romcom, but nothing that knocked my socks off. I'd give it 3-3.5 stars out of 5.  On the plus side it was filmed in New Zealand and it was gorgeous! Loved the old Inn, too!

How was your week?

  2. I definitely need to read something by Byrne! I watched Falling Inn Love. It was cute but I'd rate it the same as you.

  3. Babies getting baths in the kitchen sink always make me laugh. So cute! :) I feel you on the heat. It was 98 here yesterday... I responded by not stepping foot outside. LOL I've seen so many poor reviews for 99 Percent Mine. It seemed especially disappointing for many because so many loved Thorne's The Hating Game.

    1. Her new release was the first time I tried her and I loved it! The Highwayman was really good too. You should give her a try. :)

  5. Good old sink baths. Those were the days. It seems like people were really split on 99 Percent Mine. Darcy was difficult, but the more I learned about her, the more I understood her behavior. I liked the book.

    1. Yes! I'm reliving those days with grand kids.

Maybe I was just too impatient to read and see if my feelings changed for her. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, though, Sam. :)

  6. I decided the same thing after reading How to Love a Duke. Glad your first after that was a big win.
Whew, heat does make me drag my feet getting out there and stretching it out, too. We had a lovely 'fall' week, but now the temps will go up again for a bit.
I grabbed the Jayne Ann Krentz, too.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

    1. Today is much cooler than it has been and exercising to day was awesome. Perfect weather! It's supposed to be the same tomorrow but then we heat up again.

Glad to hear you loved How to Love a Duke in Ten Days, too! :)

  9. I hope it cools down for you soon. It's been rather cool here (unseasonably so for early Sept) but I guess we're supposed to heat back up? crazy weather lol.

The Krentz book looks pretty good! Have a super week!

  11. Falling Inn Love was a bit too cheesy for me, though the scenery was pretty wonderful.

Have a great reading week, and enjoy the time with your grandkids.

  12. I'm done with heat and ready for my fall clothes! We're back up into the 80's this week - not happy about it. Once I don't have time for the pool, I want the weather to cooperate. LOL. I am glad I have a copy of The Highwayman on my Kindle!! And I'm dying to get my hands on Bringing Down the Duke. Anxiously waiting for my library hold for Outfox too. Have a great week, Rachel!

    1. Oh, yes! I love Fall/Winter clothes so much more than my Summer clothes. Hope you like The Highwayman. It was really good. Bringing Down the Duke was a little slow to start, but so good once it got going. Hope you love it, too, Brandie!

  13. I love, love, LOVED Bringing Down the Duke! I'm so happy to see you enjoyed it as well. I cannot wait for the second book! The ending... where he comes out of the water like Poseidon… hothothot. ;)
