Sunday Post #101

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

Nothing exciting this week other than being on stricter lockdown restrictions, which doesn't change my day to day life as I still work at the hospital as usual.

All employees at my hospital who work with patients have been offered the vaccine as early as next week. They sent a survey to find out who is willing to take it and I filled it out saying I would.  We'll see what happens.

The weather has been nice, but we need rain. So it goes in California. Here's a pretty sitting place I spied on one of my runs:

Read:

I'm trying to meet my Audio Book Challenge goal of 100 books so I "read" a couple of novellas. Snow Day was a novelty as it featured sound effects in addition to the performers voices, but it resembled a radio drama more than an audio book to me. You didn't have the characters internal thoughts and views like you would in a normal book and so I didn't feel the pull of attraction between the two main characters.  Plus, it was soooo short. Blond Date was a much better novella IMO.

I've had a copy of Chaos Reigning but I borrowed an audio copy from my library thinking my husband and I would listen while driving up to our daughter's in Northern California. That didn't happen so I'll have to listen later in the week. My audio library request came through for Hallowe'en Party. Will try to get to in next week.

Watched:

Yep, back to Forensic Files. I also watched one episode of the new reboot of Unsolved Mysteries which was far less satisfying. I like seeing the bad guy caught and punished by the end!

  1. This is a very pretty place to read and be quiet, that's for sure. Enjoy your Agatha Christie, I'm currently reading Hercule Poirot's Christmas, will be reading The murder of Roger Ackroyd soon and am rewatching David Suchet's Poirot, lol ! Take care :)

  4. I watched the Unsolved Mysteries, Some of them were good others kind of slow. I do like when they get caught but I also like the mystery of it...like what really happened. lol

That little sitting area is super cute. A lot of people don't want to take the vaccine but I do hope it helps the nurses and doctor need a break and need to be protected.

I hope your week is Awesome! Happy Reading!

  5. That sitting spot is beautiful! I binge watched both seasons of Unsolved Mysteries and I agree it is so not satisfying but I love the thrill of thinking someone seeing it will bring closure to a case! But it is awful for the families.

I hope you have a great week!!

  6. Wait, you have to opt in for vaccine? I mean I don't understand why some people may not want to use that chance to be safe for themselves and their family.

I hope you get the vaccine safele as soon as possible!

  7. Rachel usually I would be very cautious with a vaccine developped in such short time but the situation is so dire now that if we don't get vaccinated we'll never end this mess so I'll do like you, even if I know I won't be in the first batches.

  9. I loved Mihalik's other books, but I haven't read Chaos Reigning yet. And I hope you're able to get the vaccine soon. I know I'll be getting it as soon as I can...but who knows when that will be.

  10. Glad you will hopefully be able to get the vaccine soon! And I too struggle with shows like Unsolved Mysteries or Disappeared. I need to know what happened! Its like a never ending cliffhanger.

  11. I really hope the vaccine will turn the tide for you all.
I agree when it comes to Unsolved Mysteries, the lack of resolution is frustrating

Wishing you a great reading week

  12. I'm glad you get out and also stay safe at work. We've been enjoying our large neighborhood and parts we didn't know on our walks. They really do the decorating here. It looks like you got some great reads ahead.

  14. I hope once you get to it you will really enjoy Chaos Reigning. I had a blast with that one and I am sure you will too. And I love the setting by which you do your walks. Hope things go smoothly for you getting the vaccine.

  16. That's really neat that the vaccine will be offered soon and you're on the list. Lovely little park area. One of my sci-fi audios did that with the sound effects and startled me. :)
I want to start that Jessie Mihalik series at some point and Annie's Song is one I really want to read.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  19. That's great that the vaccine could be made available so soon. I imagine it will be months before I am eligible to get it but I'll certainly be ready and waiting when it's time.

  20. I know a lot of people are really excited about the vaccine, and others are hesitant about potential side effects. I hope your experience is a good one and that it keeps you from getting Covid - especially working at a hospital.

I live in VA and we've had really hot weather this past week. It JUST started to get cold.
