The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
I just got back from a trip to Yosemite National Park. It has been years since I've been. I'm happy we didn't drive through the gates until later in the day since now they require you show a reservation, either at a vacation rental, hotel, campsite or a hiking permit to get in making the lines super long! I guess some have had to wait two hours or more to get in. We drove through at 6pm on Wednesday and didn't have an issue, but as we left yesterday (Saturday) there was a line. Didn't seem like two hours long, though. I'm wondering if all National Parks are like that now? At any rate, one good thing is that is seemed less crowded than usual. Some businesses required masks, others didn't, but any of the stores run by the Park Services required masks.
We did some hikes and it was hot! In the past I've gone earlier in the Summer since the waterfalls get smaller the later you go, and just stop running in some places. Fortunately, there were still some running.

I had a pretty good reading week with Dark Roads, Only for You, and What if You & Me being hits. The Runaway Heiress was a mixed bag for me.
Received/Purchased/Library Lend:
I got approval for my request of Devil in Disguise the day it released which is kind of odd, but I love The Ravenels series, so I'll take it. The rest here are library lends. I hope I can get to them before they expire.
Instagram:
I loved Things You Save in a Fire and want to read How to Walk Away soon. I just had to have the hardcovers for my shelf because they're sooo pretty!
Watched:
The heroine in What if You & Me by Roni Loren (which I listened to last week) was a horror buff/fan and with all the talk of horror movies I had to re-watch one of my favs: Scream. A bit more cheesy than I remember, but still good after fifteen years!
How was your week?
Katherine Center's books are just amazing! And we didn't see the falls when we were in Yosemite but I see what we missed!
ReplyDeleteI honeymooned at Yosemite. I've only been back once since then and that was staying out by the western gate because I wanted to see Mono Lake and that area, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad your reading week was fun and you had a lovely time.
I haven't been to a national park in a long time. Things sure have changed.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you, those book covers are so pretty! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love how you get out and hike and go places. We stay home. We are planning a short trip in October but we will see how things are going. The hotel reservations can be cancelled. I figure with more people in school it may be less tourists? I love what I have read of Katherine Center. Great photo.

We waited in a long line to get into Grand Canyon back in March. Maybe it is a thing at the national parks? Though, the line at Arches wasn't bad. Then again, March is not July (when people tend to vacation more). Glad you had a good time though. I adored Love for Beginners and To Sir, With Love. I hope you do too
ReplyDeleteGlad you got in to the park. I know some places around us have been requiring reservations and if you don't have one, you don't get in. So, that helps with the line thing, unless someone is trying to get in and didn't know!
ReplyDeletelooks like a good week for you. i have a huge desire to visit a lot of the parks out west. lucky you for getting in to yosemite. i have heard a lot about lines, congestion, and tons of people

The National Parks here in Utah have all been super crowded this past year, especially Zions. It always has long lines to get in. Glad you were able to spend some time in Yosemite. I'd love to go there one day.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Yosemite in years! I'd love to go again soon. I live close to the Grand Canyon, and lines are long by the afternoon. We always go early, and avoid the long lines. But, it's been very busy there this past year.
ReplyDeleteI want to add that To Sir With Love was one of my favorite books this year. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
DeleteOh wow that pic is gorgeous! That's a bummer about the lines, but I imagine the hiking is just amazing there.
ReplyDeleteI love that cover of Only For You- maybe it's the sailboats. :)
Wow that waterfall!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you were able to enjoy the park, what a lovely pic
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
Wow we have been to dozens of national parks throughout the US and have never experienced those kind of waits. Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't have to wait in a long line at the park. That photo of the falls is stunning! Crazy to get an arc approval on the day of release. uh, thanks, I guess? LOL Scream is such a fun one. The sequels, not so much, but the original was great.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice trip and that some of the falls were still going!! :) I just finished Survive the Night by Riley Sager and Charlie is obsessed with movies, and it made me want to watch certain ones she mentioned.
