Sunday Post #226

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

This was another busy week working an extra shift, but next week I'm back to my regular schedule. I've been trying to exercise more and I'm back to logging my food. I've been a few pounds over my normal for a while and I want to reign it in. This all takes extra time.

The neighbor next to us has an easement sold to another neighbor who had plans to put in a driveway. It's a lot of noisy work and they've taken out trees and made an eyesore. It's been upsetting to say the least, as we thought the project wouldn't approved with the way it exits out onto the main road.  I bought seventeen fast growing trees to plant and shield our view. They should be here next Friday or Saturday and a neighbor has offered to dig all the holes with his tractor since our tractor doesn't have that attachment.

The weather has been beautiful and we had half an inch of rain on Tuesday. We went into town for dinner and then came home and watched several episodes of Virgin River.

  1. Love the ginger color of your cat! I had reservations about
The Last One too. The ending was distressing, as the author intended.

    1. I would've rated it 3 stars, but that ending subtracted one more. I hated it!

  2. Ug, sorry to hear about the work next door. Hopefully the new trees will soften the view. I need to get back to watching Virgin River. We watched a couple seasons and then stopped for some reason.

    1. It's definitely a bummer, and I've been spending way too much time with it in my head. I keep telling myself I've made a plan to mitigate and so it's time to move on with positive thoughts. Nothing else I can do about it. :/

Virgin River is so addictive once I start watching. I usually end up watching several episodes at once, lol.

  3. Ugh construction is always rough. It's great you are taking care of you and will be back to the normal schedule next week. Great photos!

    1. It is! I've made a plan to reduce the impact with the trees and so I'm feeling more calm about it now. So happy about the normal schedule next week! I feel a little crazy when I have extra shifts.

      Thanks!

  4. Sorry to hear about the neighbor. It totally made me think of a plot of a book though (one of Titians books, LOL!) I hope they finish soon. Love the picture of your cat. Such a great shot!

    1. Thanks, Sam! I spent too much time stressing about it last week, but I feel better knowing I have a plan now. What else can I do. Going to try and think positive thoughts and live healthy.

My cat brings me so much joy! He is truly a blessing! :)

  5. Love the photos especially the fall dogwood. My dogwood makes berries but in the summer, like fruit. Hmm. Will have to investigate further.

    1. I don't remember the Dogwood having berries on it last fall. I need to look through my photos of last fall to confirm. They look really pretty, though. :)

  6. Honestly it pains me every time someone is cutting trees as we need them to regulate our climate!

    1. It really upsets me too, Sophie! I'm planting more and will continue to plant and plant and plant. :) This neighbor is something else! He actually sued the property owner to force his rights on the easement to get this massive "driveway" put in. All the neighbors hate him.

  7. That sucks that the neighbor has created an eyesore. Hopefully the new trees help. All your pics are so pretty!

    1. It does suck, Sam! The trees I'm planting are supposed to grow 3-5 feet a year so I think it'll help for sure. We've been talking through the logistics of the big plant (17 trees!) today. I'm excited about that at least. Thank you! Fall is always such a beautiful time of year here. :)

  8. Sorry to hear about the neighbor's driveway! I hope your new trees do a good job of screening it from view. I love your photos of the sunset, the fall berries, and your jungle kitty!

  9. Oh my gosh that picture of your cat is adorable! And love the berries.

Sorry to hear about the easement project. I remember growing up we had an easement issue with a neighobr on our up north property and it was a mess. I hope things work out.

    Happy reading this week Rachel!

    1. Thanks! My adventure kitty brings me so much happiness! Yes, it's a noisy mess, but hopefully they'll finish soon and the trees will shield the view. Nothing else I can do about it. :(

You have a wonderful week, Greg!

  10. I hope the new trees get there quickly! I miss the trees that blocked our neighbors. The trees all died for some reason. Maybe they hated the neighbors as much as I do?

    1. Same here! Maybe the drought killed them off, and that could very well be a possibility, lol!

  11. Neighbors can really mess things up sometimes, can't they? And that picture of Peanut in the tree is adorable. Hope you have a good week.

  13. I'm so sorry to hear about the trees being taken down. We had quite the wind storm in June, and a lot of the trees in our surrounding wooded area have come down. I know it will make room for some of the smaller ones to grow in, but it still is sad to see them fall.

    1. Thanks, Ethan. Yes, it's sad to see trees coming down. Sorry you lost a few near by. I guess it does make room for newer trees to grow, and that's a great positive view to have. :)

  14. It can be frustrating when our neighbors do things on property near us that we do not approve of. It hurts me so much to see trees come down. I hope your trees grow quickly.

Bittersweet in the Hollow has a beautiful cover. Glad you enjoyed it so much.

    1. I agree! I hope so as well. It's said they grow 3-5 ft a year, but we'll see.

I love that gorgeous cover! Was happy that the story matched!

  16. I am sorry to hear about the mess the new neighbors are causing with the building of the driveway. I hope the new trees you are getting will help with the view! I would be so sad to see the older trees torn out.

I love the photo of Peanut in the tree. LOL

I am interested in reading Bittersweet in the Hollow and the Ann Cleeves book. I am glad to see you enjoyed them!

I hope you have a great week, Rachel.

    1. Yes, hopefully the new trees will mitigate their destruction. They're supposed to replace some of the trees they tore out without the neighbors permission, but they won't be near as big as what they took out. The neighbor who owns the land where the easement is in place has been locked in lawsuits with them for years. The whole neighborhood hates these neighbors.

He makes me laugh so much when he just runs up trees for no apparent reason!

I hope you enjoy both if you decide to pick them up!
