Sunday Post #293

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Nothing too exciting going on here. We've had a few hot days and some cooler days, sat outside by the fire a couple of the evenings.

Today we went to the monthly library sale and I donated bunch of books and I bought a few. This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter, Bad Liar by Tami Hoag, and Exiles by Jane Harper. All pristine hardcover copies, at .25 cents a piece!

We then went to lunch and then to a really neat vintage market sale with garden plants and antiques and I bought a soup tureen. We bought a Meyer Lemon tree and a climbing rose (Eden). I hope to plant them tomorrow.

I've been doing a lot of weeding and planted some thyme, chives and lavender in between my rose bushes.

Flowers around the neighborhood:

California lilac

Dogwood in town

Japanese Cherry on my walk

  1. I bought a Meyer Lemon tree early last year at the master gardener's sale, and the hurricane last summer blew the neighbor's fence on it and killed it. I hope to get another. And look at all those lovely books you took home from the sale!

  2. Those are some great buys from that sale. I'm especially fond of Karin Slaughter. I love all the flowers and garden photos. Great to see you loved Steel's Edge. The giveaway ends tonight.

  3. Spring weather can be weird and the pollen! But look at those beautiful flowers. You had a good reading week, too.

    1. I'm not very allergic and I've been sneezing with some itchy eyes, so it must be strong here. Still, the flowers are so pretty right now!

  4. Pretty flowers! My tulips are blooming and so are the flowering trees - finally! But that makes the pollen worse and I've been dealing with allergies since I returned from Philly.

  6. Sitting outside by the fire in the evenings sounds so nice, Rachel. I am sitting here listening to the rain at the moment. I am glad you were able to find some good books a the library sale! I enjoy Hoag's novels. And the vintage market sale sounds fun too. I bet they had some great stuff.

I love Jack and George. :-) Steel's Edge was a great addition to the series. I really liked Charlotte. I really want to read Kristen Perrin's books. I have the first one, I think, on my TBR. I need to make time for it!

I hope you have a great week, Rachel!

  7. I'm hoping the weather will warm up enough on a continuous basis so I can get some planting in, as well as take the cover off the pool. Sounds like you had a good week, Rachel. I hope next week is just as good.

  9. Fun to catch such a good library sale and nice that you cleared some from your shelves as well. I love looking through antique markets to see what they have. That soup tureen will be handing by fall.
    Pretty blooms along your walks.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  15. I didn't get to comment last Sunday but I love the blooms you are seeing. I bet you're busy with gardening (I will be too when I get back from SoCal). Library sales are always good for us bookworms. I like to study everything that's there, lol! Enjoy the sun & plants.

  16. I love Dogwoods, they are our state tree I think? I would love to have one in my yard if I ever planted anything to replace the tree I lost in my front yard last year. Looks like some great bargains at the library sale! Hope you had a good week! Sorry I'm late stopping by.
