he Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
Happy Sunday! We're in Austin, Texas visiting our daughter, SIL and grandkids. It's hot and humid here, typical for August, but we've had a nice time visiting. Dinners out, an indoor sport complex with rock climbing and zip-lining, watching college football and working puzzles. This afternoon we had an impressive thunder and lightning storm with a heavy downpour. We fly home tomorrow (Sunday).
I got out early for a run and snapped a few photos of the local plants/flowers:

How was you week?
Let me know if you happen to be in Austin visiting your daughter in early November. It's the scheduled time for the Texas Book Festival, and we are planning to attend.
ReplyDeleteThe beautyberries are everywhere around here, even in our yard.
I'll be in Italy this year, but I would love to go eventually! Maybe next year! They are so pretty!
DeleteIt looks like a beautiful trip. Enjoy your holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks, Anne! It is beautiful out here!
DeleteAll the lilacs I know of here are early spring - jealous of your lilac sighting!
ReplyDeleteI guess these are a different kind of lilac. Almost like a sage plant. They are really pretty but they don't have the lovely strong scent of a lilac.
DeleteThere is Austen in August and there is Austin in August. Ha! Gorgeous flowers! Glad you're enjoying your trip! Safe travels home.
ReplyDeleteAusten in August would be more comfortable! Haha. It is pretty here despite the heat and the thunder and lightning storm was impressive! So cool. Thank you, Jinger!
DeleteWait... IA's new book is out for ARC review? I MUST find this. I bought Inheritance, but haven't had the chance to read it yet. It sounds like you had a great time with your family. We pack up and moved both kiddos back to college this past week.
ReplyDeleteYes! I almost died when I saw that Anne had it last week! I requested it right away and I'm tempted to start reading it now! That's a lot of work and I bet you're sad to see them go. The kids out here start school earlier. We didn't start up school again until after Labor Day. Sounds like your kids are the same.
DeleteBeautiful pictures. Sounds like you had a nice time visiting. We kept getting threatened with all sorts of weather, but actually it's been warm and not too hot.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Thanks! We did have a nice visit!
DeleteI am glad you had a great time with your daughter Rachel!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteSo nice that you could go down and see them all. Looks like you had fun with the indoor facility and puzzles. A big lightning show and pretty local plants gave you an interesting nature side of the visit, too.
ReplyDeleteI still need to read that Mimi Matthews and the book two. Hope you get back safely today.
Have a good week, Rachel!
Yes, the indoor facility was helpful being it was so hot outside! The lightning was really neat and the plants were so pretty. We ended up coming home a day later. I think you'll love the first book, Sophia. I plan on getting to the second one soon. Thank you! You have a wonderful week, too!
DeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed your visit and I hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home. I don't miss the hot and humid (though I probably just cursed myself to it by mentioning it).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam! I'm not a big fan of hot and humid either. My daughter would love for us to move out there but the weather is a big sticking point for me. I moved away from Southern California to get out of the oppressive heat and get the seasons, and the heat is even worse in Texas.
DeleteWhat a fun trip. The photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love a good thunder and lightning storm! That book by Mimi Matthews has such a pretty cover! Sounds like a nice trip. Hope you have a good week!

Me too! It's so exciting! The story matched the beautiful cover! You, too, Lisa!
DeleteI've got One Dark Night on my TBR! Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it! You, too, Bree!
DeleteWow! Your plants look so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Watch
Thanks, they're in my daughter's neighborhood in Texas.
DeleteYour trip sounds fun! And Rules for Ruin looks really good. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was! We got back a day later than we planned. Rules for Ruin was so good!
DeleteGlad you enjoyed your trip. Hope you have a relaxing Labor Day. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lark! I hope you enjoyed the holiday, too! :)
DeleteI'm definitely going to be reading the Christine Feehan book. Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteI hope to start it soon! Thanks!
DeleteI've got the new Cornwell book as well. I feel like she's really breathed new life into the series as of late, so I'm eager to dive in!
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm really enjoying the reboot!
