Sunday Post #311

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

Nothing exciting to report here. Summer is still hanging on, but we did get a few thunder and lightning storms with some rain. It's supposed to rain this next week for three days. We'll see.

Out front in between storms this last week.

We went to a friend's house for a small gathering and lunch last weekend. We met another couple we clicked with. We talked about travel, East vs. West coast, (they lived on the East Coast prior to moving to California), cats we've all had over the years, (they love cats, too) and our families. It was fun visiting.

I worked today (Saturday) and I work next Saturday. Working Saturday has its pros and cons. Less people in our department, but my week is thrown off. I worked a lot the last two weeks. I hope to put in 5 miles on a walk/run tomorrow, but other than that I'm not leaving the house, lol.

Read:

The Austen Affair by Madeline Bell
Devil's Due (Red Letter Days #2) by Rachel Caine
A Tour to Die For (The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco #2) by Michelle Chouinard

The Austen Affair by Madeline Bell-4 Stars
Devil's Due (Red Letter Days #2) by Rachel Caine-4 Stars
A Tour to Die For (The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco #2) by Michelle Chouinard-4.5 Stars

I didn't read as much as I hoped to but I enjoyed what I read. Devil's Due has been sitting on my Netgalley shelf since 2013!! I'm so happy I finally read and will now be able to clear it off my shelf! Well, once I write the review, that is.

Do you have any books that've been on your Netgalley shelf for a long time?

Received:

Road Trip with a Vampire (My Vampires #3) by Jenna Levine
The Heartbreak Hotel by Ellen O'Clover

Road Trip with a Vampire (My Vampires #3) by Jenna Levine
The Heartbreak Hotel by Ellen O'Clover
Rifle Season by Pat Kelly

Thank you to Berkley and Atria/Emily Bestler Books!

How was your week?

  1. Sounds like a good week! Yeah, I've got books from years ago on my Netgalley shelf that I will probably never get to because they were sequels or in a series and it's been so long I don't know if I can just jump right back into it and remember what happened. Looks like you have some reviews I'll need to read! Have a great week!

    1. I read the first book of the Red Letter Days duology more about 13 yrs ago! I just powered through and didn't let the fact I was hazy on the details bother me. I enjoyed it. You too, Lisa!

  3. So nice to meet new friends and click like that. I have many, many old shelf books because I take so many freebies but as far as ARCs hardly any. As far as purchased books, many. I've started to work on those. I know what you mean about working weekends or odd shifts, it can really throw things off. I love a day at home.

  4. Look at you making new friends. This is not easier when you are older, but it's a wonderful thing. It's pretty outside your home. I could vibe with that.

    1. I know! I doubt we'll do things on a regular basis with them, but it was fun to visit. I love the views from our house!

    1. I usually don't work Saturdays. It just ended up that way. I'm working a little more because I won't be working much in November.

  6. I love meeting new people and making an instant connection. I hope you get some time to rest and relax tomorrow. Road Trip with a Vampire sounds like great fun!

  7. I have several books that have been sitting on my NG shelf for months, but that's because I wait to read them within a month of the release date usually.

I've lived on both coasts as well as in the middle of the country, but funny enough, I've always lived in a state that borders Canada!

    1. That's a fun tidbit, Jen! I want to explore the East Coast more. We want to do a lighthouse trip there soon!

  8. I set up the fire pit this weekend in hopes that the Texas heat will finally relent. No such luck so far!

  9. I have more than a few books on Netgalley which are well overdue for reviews ATM, though I have read them. I only have 3 long term that I haven’t read, in both cases because they expired before I got to them.

Wishing you a happy reading week
