Release Blitz & Giveaway: Silent Whisper by Andrea Smith

I 've enjoyed Andrea Smith's past novels so I'm excited to be part of the Release Blitz for her newest novel, Silent Whisper!

Publication Date: August 24th 2014

About the book:

For twenty-seven years I’ve flitted through life clueless to abilities I’ve had dormant inside of me. In the blink of an eye everything changed. She changed it. Now I know that nothing is as it seems and I will never be the same…but this isn’t my story. It’s hers. I’m just being forced to live it, resolve it, and ultimately try to move on after learning that our lives are tangled far more than I would’ve ever imagined. My name is Parrish Locke and I can see the dead.

Excerpt:

I was still distracted as I walked up the concrete sidewalk to my back door, fumbling inside my handbag for my keys. I hadn't noticed that someone had circled around to the back of the condo, and was a mere six feet away before addressing me.
"Karlie Masterson?" the female voice said, causing me to practically jump out of my skin. "I think you might want to listen to what I have to say."
I turned abruptly, clutching my handbag by the straps as if it were a weapon or could be used as one if necessary.
"I'm sorry," the woman said, "I didn't mean to frighten you."
"Who are you?"

"I'm Anna Maria Castellano, Nick's wife. Can we talk?"

Publication Date: November 21st 2013 by Meatball Taster Publishing

About the book:
There's a new Alpha in town . . . and he's a Brit!

Darcy Nicole Sheridan, is 22 years-old, beautiful, single, spirited, sexy and - spoiled. She knows that about herself. Raised by wealthy (and doting) parents as an only child, Darcy pretty much coasts through life until her heart was inexplicably broken by her boyfriend, Darin.

To ease the pain, Darcy flies to Belize over the holidays fully intending to wallow in self-pity and distance herself from her ex. Her pity party is short-lived however, after observing a very handsome, very intriguing man on the beach. Darcy becomes the focus of the smokin' hot, wealthy and somewhat mysterious 'E.J.'

Soon she finds herself entangled with an alpha like no other… Her world is rocked by a series of events that will forever change the course of her life, showing her what love is all about; and forcing her to come to terms with hidden sexual pleasures only one man could fulfill…

This book is intended for mature audiences!

My Thoughts:
Night Moves was one hot and sexy read!

Twenty two year old Darcy Sheridan is not used to having her heart broken but all this changes when she walks in on her scumbag boyfriend, Darin, cheating.  She runs to Belize to get away from him and scour the memories from her heart.  This is where she runs across, E.J and he makes all thought of Darin evaporate.  He’s dangerously sexy, and arrogant like you can’t believe, and of course, just looking at him sets Darcy’s panties on fire!  She thinks she’s seen the last of him when she heads back to the States, but she’s in for more than one surprise on that front!

E.J. or Easton is used to getting whatever or whoever he wants and he has now set his sights on Darcy.  She reminds him of a past love and that’s what initially draws him to her, but he soon finds out Darcy is unlike anyone he’s known and he can’t stop thinking about her.  For someone who supposedly won’t commit to one girl he manages to infiltrate her life on more than a few levels. Can you say stalk much?

I have to say I had some big time issues with Easton for about the first 40% of this book!  I wanted to slap this man-whore or I at least wanted Darcy to do it! She does have some backbone, though, and didn’t let him completely walk over her.  I loved her thinking:

I didn’t understand; I don’t know maybe it was a guy thing, or an Easton thing, but I certainly didn’t get the memo about all these different degrees of caring. In my world, you either cared or you didn’t; people either mattered or they didn’t; you either had a future together or not.

I’m right there with you, Darcy!

Darcy does manage to rile Easton up a bit which was fun to read.  Anytime I read about an arrogant character it’s always satisfying when they get taken down a notch, and Darcy was just the girl to do it! Darcy’s reactions aren’t always what Easton counts on making him uncharacteristically obsessed with her.  Their push and pull made for some very heated scenes!  Easton is very much an Alpha male with some tendencies that would make Mr. C. Grey happy!

My feelings toward Easton did change after I had more insight into his reasoning.  I could see how he ended up the way he did.  He doesn’t stay that way for long because his weakness for Darcy won’t allow for it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Night Moves. There were some moments of serious frustration with Easton, but that only made his turn around all the more sweet.  Their chemistry and resulting spicy scenes were so very HOT!  But their deeper emotional connection touched my heart and had me rooting for a long term romance.  The epilogue grants me my wishes and oh-so-much more!  As with the other two books in the G-Man series, there is some danger at the end making me anxiously turn the pages just to make sure everything works out! Just enough excitement to make for a thrilling read!

Andrea Smith knows how to write a seriously addictive story and I ended up finishing this in one day! Her G-Man series is a hit with me and I’m now wondering if we’ll get another installment.  I certainly hope so!

This book is intended for mature audiences.

My Thoughts:
Maybe Baby Lite was an addictive rollercoaster ride full of chemistry, fiery hot sex, and plenty of drama.

Tylar Preston is a college student paying her way by working at Sinclair Stables with their horses.  Since she’s left home for college she’s been having more and more troubling dreams that call her recollection of her upbringing and her mother into question.  If what she dreams is actually true, her mother is one NASTY piece of work!

While walking one of Sinclair Stables’ prize stallions, Tylar runs into the intense Trey Sinclair, who is not happy at all that she has his horse.  Color her surprised when after a swimming accident where she almost dies, Trey’s the one she wakes up to and he won’t leave her side.  After witnessing Tylar’s accident and her countless nightmares in the hospital, Trey’s protective instincts come out in full force.  And I do mean FULL force! Some of this is not a bad thing because after being released, Tylar starts getting threats from her past, and she needs someone looking out for her!

There is a lot of back and forth with Tylar and Trey because they really push each other’s buttons.   He goes all crazy-alpha-controller, way over board with his protectiveness, and she responds by acting out and pushing him over the edge even more!  She is only twenty and her immaturity shows on more than one occasion, but these two are like crack for each other and they can’t stay away.  Trey is ultra possessive with statements like this:

He whispered softly in my ear, “You’re mine, Tylar. Don’t ever forget that. You’re mine.”

Yet he’s reluctant to make a full on commitment, which, understandably rubbed Tylar the wrong way. I was happy that Tylar didn’t just take this sort of treatment.  The intense feelings these two have for each other makes for irrational actions on both sides.  So, yeah, lots of back and forth, but thankfully none of the drama lasts for too long.  You’ll want to read this with a fan close by because there are fiery HOT scenes a-plenty!

“You’re f**king insatiable, Tylar.”
“What do you plan on doing about that, Trey?” I asked, arching my eyebrow seductively.

And on, and on, and on it goes…Seriously, tip of the iceberg!

Tylar’s mother made me really wish I could strangle a fictional character!  Hateful, horrible, disgusting woman!  Fortunately, we get to know her mostly through flashbacks and nightmares. Unfortunately, with that ending scene, I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of her.

This was a highly addictive story with writing that sort of reminded me of the informal and rambling nature you’d find in a Kristen Ashely novel.  That is a compliment because I love her writing. Maybe Baby Lite left Tylar and Trey in a really good place, soaring high from happiness, but their story is far from over.  I’m sure more drama is on the horizon and I can’t wait for all the twists and turns ahead!

About the book: It had been a year ago that 19-year-old Lindsey Dennison's life had taken an abrupt turn. While away at Cornell for her freshman year at college, her parents' marriage had imploded. Lindsey learned the harsh truth about her father, and his involvement in criminal activity that was the focus of a major federal bust. Her father had slipped out of the country with his lover and cohort in crime, Susanne, shortly before the FBI arrest warrants could be served. He was now a fugitive from justice, deserting his only child. Lindsey was left trying to pick up the pieces of the life she now realized had been a house of secrets and lies for all of those years.

After her mother's marriage to Eric Slater, one of the special agents of the FBI involved in the federal investigation that occurred in their hometown of Indianapolis, Lindsey decides to start fresh at a new college close to where her mother, step-father and baby brother Bryce are now living outside of Washington, D.C.

Life is different now for Lindsey, but it is about to change even more. Her step-father's partner and best friend in the bureau, Trace "Taz" Matthews, is about to rock her world in more ways than one. Taz is nearly ten years older than Lindsey, but her initial interest in him is physical only. Lindsey has a problem that she is certain Taz can fix . . . but will he?

Despite their best efforts, Lindsey and Taz are tossed together by fate on more than one occasion, and this G-Man does not appreciate the distraction. There are complications for Sammie and Slate along the way as well. A risky pregnancy for Sammie requires the family to pull together and Lindsey's life suddenly becomes increasingly complicated.

There is a budding romance on the horizon for Lindsey with a wealthy, Ivy-League type guy she meets at school by the name of Kyzer Stanfield. Kyzer's interest in Lindsey does not sit well for Taz. When Lindsey must leave school to return home to help her mother, Taz is relieved that she will be distanced from the pursuit of Kyzer. . . but not for long.

Things are never quite as they seem. Lindsey will learn a brutal lesson about trust, compassion and strength. Taz will learn lessons about love, intimacy and honor, and that sometimes doing the right thing has consequences.

Warning: Explicit Sex, contains rape scene.

My Thoughts:
Love Plus One was an addictive story.  Not one that had me on the edge of my seat, (well, not until the end) but one that sort of sucked me in without me being fully aware.  Before I knew it I was at the 50% mark in the story and I knew I couldn’t put it down until I finished! I read Diamond Girl, the first book in this series, in one day without planning on it, and I did the same with Love Plus One.  Andrea Smith’s writing pulls you in and doesn’t let go.  I would compare her writing style to Kristen Ashley’s.  Not in the way that she has Alpha-caveman-style men in every book.  Andrea Smith’s men are Alpha type too, but not quite as caveman style.  I’m speaking more of the way that the story sort of rambles on, and at the same time completely captivates you.

Twenty year-old Lindsey has had a major upheaval in her life. The perfect family life she thought she had was anything but.  Her adoring father is a fugitive and her mother has remarried and had another baby.  Lindsey is happy that her mother has found happiness after finding out that she endured a loveless marriage, basically forced on her.

Taz is an FBI agent, one that worked on her father’s case, and hotter than the fires of Hades! He may be close to ten years older than Lindsey, and everything she isn’t looking for in a man, but her hormones have no complaints! Every time she gets near him her insides zing!!

Taz is all about his career.  He is not a relationship man and considers it to be a distraction to his job and goals in life.  This is not to say that Taz isn’t a sexual man, make no mistake, he just doesn’t add the complication of a relationship to satisfying his desires.  Unfortunately, Lindsey has gone and captured his attention and for some reason he can’t get her out of his mind!

“I’m sick of having you under my skin,” he stated simply. “So, I intend to have you underneath me, on top of me, sitting on my face, but by God I am not having you under my f&%king skin anymore. Period.”

*fans self*

When suspicious events put Lindsey’s safety into question, Taz’s protective instincts come on high alert and he can no longer deny what he feels for her.

Like I said, I started this book with no intention of finishing it in one day, but I couldn’t put it down.  I was completely immersed in Lindsey and Taz’s story and all the danger and suspense that came along with it!

Lindsey was a character I immediately connected to having her POV.  I liked that she wasn’t bitter over her circumstances, and made the love she had for her family a priority.  I loved that she wasn’t clingy and for the most part didn’t make frustrating choices.  I was VERY unhappy with one.  You’ll figure it out.

Taz, at first, was a little infuriating, but I quickly got past that and fell head over heels for that man! He warmed my heart (and other parts!) through and through.

Be warned, there is a rape scene.  It’s disturbing and didn’t set well with me.  The description warns about this, so I can’t say I didn’t know, but it’s something to consider if you pick this up.

When I signed on to review Love Plus One I didn’t realize it was a companion novel to Diamond Girl (Sammie & Slate’s story).  While you don’t have to read it before Love Plus One to enjoy the story I think it would enhance the story, because Lindsey’s mother, Sammie, and Slate her new husband, have pretty big parts to play in Love Plus One.   Plus, you get background on both Lindsey and Taz that you wouldn’t get without reading it.

I adored Lindsey and Taz’s story.  There was intense chemistry, danger, and love all wrapped up into a mesmerizing read!  Where’s my next G-Man story?!!  I guess in 2014
