About the book:

Love means fading out so another shines brighter.

Right clothes. Right school. Right fiancĂ©. As a Wyndemere, Arian’s expected to abide by the rules. The most important: be perfect. But Arian’s seemingly flawless life is far from it. An embarrassing expulsion from her parents’ alma mater spirals an already unhealthy obsession out of control, exposing a dark truth.

Faced with having to attend a small private college after a stint in rehab, Arian’s just ready to coast under the radar and repair some of the wreckage, but her father’s looming control is like a vise choking off her air supply.

When a run-in with Braxton’s beloved star quarterback, Ryder Nash, puts Arian squarely in the crosshairs of his devoted teammates, the last of her controlled, orderly world unhinges. As the pranks and paybacks escalate, Arian and Ryder’s rivalry takes a passionate turn. And once Arian glimpses beneath the all-star-athlete exterior Ryder projects, she realizes he’s far more than just a jock.

As their relationship intensifies, outside forces feel the threat. Outrunning their pasts doesn’t mean history won’t repeat itself, but Ryder can’t let that happen. He’s just one Championship game away from breaking the mold. Only one moment, one choice, might change everything.

Told from both Arian's and Ryder's POV. New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers 17 years of age and older.

Book #2
Released: October 2014
Can be read as a stand-alone.
Sometimes you have to lose your way before finding the right track.

The roar of a bike engine. The vibration between her thighs. The feel of cool darkness kissing her skin as she coasts along twisty back roads at night—Melody Lachlan lives for these things. Ever since Mel and her best friend Darla escaped their small, backwoods town, they’ve traveled the countryside in search of fast rides, tatted bikers, and good times.

A self-proclaimed poet and lover of all things free, Mel views her life as one long bike ride—with pit stops along the way to numb the pain. But she never saw herself as a junkie. Party as hard as you ride. That’s her motto…until a tragic night steals her soul. Then she’s forced to delve below the surface, to where her demons rage.

When she meets recovered drug addict Boone Randall, she’s more likely to deck him than kiss his dimple-adorable face. She doesn’t want his help; doesn’t want to own up to her part in that night. She just wants to do her time and keep her promise to her friend. Yet Boone challenges Mel, and soon she doesn’t mind sharing the road. Only when Boone’s own secret demons threaten their newfound, fragile security, Mel’s course becomes rocky, and she must decide if letting her well-worn track marks fade is worth finding a new path.

Excerpt:

And with a groan, I realize that I still forgot to put on my bottoms. Hell. What is wrong with my brain? The answer comes with Holden’s hurried movements, adjusting his position in the bed next to mine. Just the sound of him rearranging his pillows and rustling his covers sends my nerves careening against my arteries.
I force my eyes closed. Will myself to fall asleep. My traitorous hormones have no control over me. Holden is an asshole. He’s my boyfriend’s brother. He broke my heart— but his words at the oak begin to pulse through me, hitting me hard. What if I was wrong about him?
With his past, I can’t imagine how messed up he must have been during that time. I don’t know anything, really, about the man lying in the bed next to me. And suddenly, I want to.
My mental assault breaks off as I hear Holden’s deep exhale. “Are you still not wearing pants?”
Shit. And what’s my excuse? “No. It’s pretty stuffy in he— ” No time to finish that sentence as Holden bounds from his bed and stands over me, the evidence of his torture apparent in his boxers.
He rips the covers back, and I yelp. “What are you— ?” But obviously words mean nothing to him. His eyes are blazing blue, even in the dim light, and he forcefully moves between my legs to hover above me.
“Holden,” I say, trying like hell to put conviction in my tone. “We can’t. You know this is wrong . . . on like . . . so many levels.”
He nods. “I know. And I’m going to answer for every one of my sins. But right now, I don’t give a fuck.” He grasps my ankles and pulls, flattening my back against the bed. My tee rides up, exposing my black boy shorts and stomach.
My skin tingles as Holden slowly raises my leg, resting my ankle on his shoulder. He’s kneeling, using his other hand to angle himself above me. His eyes only release me when he turns his head to press a soft kiss to my calf.
My breath catches in my throat. His hand skims my leg, his mouth trailing its path, the cool metal of his lip ring sending so many, too many shivers dancing across my skin.
I’ve never felt so helpless, so immobile, and so hopeful that he doesn’t stop— if I don’t move, if I let him continue, can I pretend I’m not a willing participant? No. I can’t lie to myself. If I’m going to stop this, I have to now. Because as his mouth moves to my thigh, and his tongue just grazes my skin, I know I won’t be able to soon.
“Holden— ”
“Say anything but stop,” he says, low, his voice husky with need.
I swallow. “Please,” I get out.

“Oh, I’m going to please you. You can bet your sweet ass.” And he sinks his teeth into the flesh just below my center, eliciting a soft moan from my throat.

Blog Review: The Darkest Part by Trisha Wolfe

And as Sam starts to unravel the truth, she begins to question if the brother she's unwillingly falling for again is in an even darker place than her.

My Thoughts:
The Darkest Part was a second chance romance full of emotions, passion, and a slowly unraveling mystery.  It was an enthralling and haunting read!

Samantha submerges into deep depression and darkness after losing her fiancĂ©, Tyler in a tragic accident.  The future she thought she had is forever gone and what’s worse is it seems Tyler’s ghost takes up visiting Sam, unable or unwilling to move on.  Or is he?  Could it be that overwhelming sadness has fractured Sam’s mental health or is Sam really having ghostly visitations?  In order to help both her and Tyler move on, Sam plans to take the roadtrip/honeymoon they had planned out before Tyler died.  Unfortunately, his older brother Holden forces his way on the trip and with their tumultuous past it won’t be smooth sailing.

The Darkest Part was a story of grief and mending.  Sam and Holden discover vital details about Tyler that shed light on his death and their combined relationships.  Some of these discoveries were hurtful, but Holden and Sam helped each other through the pain. I adored seeing Holden and Sam work on these things together because it helped them heal from the past, set miscommunications right and reinstall their romance, which should’ve been so long ago.

It pained Holden to see Sam so shaken by Tyler’s death.  He doesn’t think there’s any way she’s actually seeing Tyler’s ghost, but events and some of Sam’s knowledge put doubts in his mind. Could she really be seeing Tyler’s spirit?  If not, Sam is close to really losing it and Holden is damned if he’s going to let that happen.  Sam has always been a vibrant, beautiful woman in Holden’s opinion, even if he did wreck things with her years ago. Holden yearns to have a future with Sam, but that can’t happen until they work out the issues and mystery surrounding Tyler’s life and death.

I adored this darkly passionate tale!  I was on the edge of my seat to figure out what exactly happened with Tyler, Holden and Sam.  It was obvious to me that Sam and Tyler’s romance wasn’t as firm as it should’ve been considering they were supposed to get married.  Sam and Holden’s relationship, as they embark on their road-trip is adversarial, at least on Sam’s part, and I enjoyed seeing the walls and bitter feelings melt away into a passionate, all-consuming need for one another.  It was a slow and fiery build!

Trisha Wolfe weaved together a compelling, dark, and mysterious tale with a satisfying second chance romance.  I plan on reading the next in the series: Losing Track very soon!

As a huge bonus, this moving story will be free on Amazon for a limited time: January 1-5! Be sure to grab yourself a copy!
