Sunday Post #140

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

I'm up in Northern California right now. Left on Thursday and should be on my way back home in a couple of hours. I haven't posted much since it's been really busy at work and I just didn't have the energy when I got home. Plus, I had two books in a row that were disappointing and it's hard to want to post on a book you don't love, right? Thankfully I'm now reading two books I'm loving!

The Fall colors up here have been stunning, but right now it's storming. I guess it's a huge weather system that's supposed to dump a bunch of rain. Should make our drive home super fun. We should be out of it half way home, but then it'll land where I live just in time for my commute to work tomorrow!! I love the rain, and it's a gift in California, but Californians seriously do not know how to drive in the rain and so usually it's a mess! Here are some pictures of the Fall colors and now our current weather:

Gorgeous, right? No filters!

Hard to tell, but it's windy and pouring here.

It Happened One Summer was sooo good! I'm a huge fan of Schitt's Creek and Piper was so much like Alexis, maybe not quite as clueless. The Christmas Village was a sweet holiday romance, and An Inquiry into Love and Death was the perfect for this time of year. Spooky, atmospheric ghost story with a bit of romance!

Received/Purchased/Library Lend:

Love, Lists & Fancy Ships and The Love of My Life are new to me authors, and they sound good.  I hope to love them. I've been collecting physical copies of books that I love for my shelves. I love the Verity Kent series, and the book covers are so lovely! I have two more in the series and it'll be complete for now.

Very much like A Quiet Place, but I really liked it!

What about you? How was your week?

  1. I love the photos! We don't quite have colors here yet, a bit. We could use the rain. I'm guessing from your comments you didn't like Well Matched or The Brightest Star in Paris? I hope your next reads are more suited. I'm starting A Shard of Hope tomorrow!

  4. Love the pictures. I am big fan of fall and all its colors. Sorry your reading has been disappointing. I only post reviews on my blog for books that rate 4 and up (unless a tour). I want to use my energy to hype books I loved, you know? Good luck with the rain.

  6. Yay for fall beauty and much needed rain for you. Gorgeous tree color. Bummer you had some so-so reading, but glad the next three made up for it. I've been meaning to read that Simone St. James series and the It Happened One Summer sounds cute.

    Have a great week, Rachel!

  7. pretty pics. i love fall colors, which we don't get much of here in the florida panhandle, but that's okay, i can surf the web and look at my pics from the past and imagine the smell of the leaves and the sound of them as they crunch while walking through them. memories......

  11. That first pic is gorgeous. I love when the trees turn colors. It's just starting here, it's really late this year.

    The Silence looks good!

  13. I'm always jealous of places that get to truly experience fall weather and the leaves changing colors. Here in Texas, we settle for it being less hot than in was a month ago haha.

  14. I am just loving your fall foliage photos, I am loving all of our trees and mountains right now. Its my favorite time of the year.

I hope you enjoy that Tessa Bailey, I hear some fabulous things.

  15. The foliage there is just stunning! I wish we got that kind of fall colors here but not so much. I've had Ghosted by Rosie Walsh on my TBR for ages. This latest one sounds good, too.
