The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
This last week was another busy one, and I hope this week isn't as bad, but I'm on call Monday after I leave until the next day when I go in. Not pleased about that, but poor management left the department short staffed. It's getting easier and easier to think about working somewhere else, which will happen when I move up north. Thank goodness my manager isn't in our department more than an hour every day. We had a buffer between us and her until five years ago so we didn't realize what kind of person she was until after that. So many things to say about that. Let me tell you it wasn't easy going through Covid while working at a hospital when your manager is/was a fan of Trump. My co-worker and I had to fight for so many things in the beginning, like PPE. Now that's not such an issue, but her personality is an aggressive, often unpleasant one.
I got my booster shot after work on Thursday. Didn't start feeling bad until Friday afternoon. I had body aches and chills, but still not as bad as the second dose. Felt okay enough to go on a 3 mile walk yesterday (Saturday) even if I still wasn't at 100%, and I'm happy I got out in the fresh air with the hubby.

I'm trying to complete my Audio Book Challenge (100 books) so I've been listening to novellas and short stories. Loved Secrets at Midnight, and If the Fates Allow and Oh.What.Fun were entertaining and fun short listens. Dream Keeper and An Unexpected Distraction were wins for me, too!
Received/Purchased/Library Lend:
I was offered an audio copy of Dark Horse, which is book 7 of the Orphan X series. I was planning on starting this series at some point, I even bought the audio of the first book. Now I have until February to read all six books first, as it seems best to read the series in order! Love the Atlee Pine series so I was happy to get the latest, Mercy, even if it is after the publication date. I'll probably buy an audio copy as well. CJ Carmichael is a new to me author, but I know Sophia Rose enjoys her books and these were two novella length audios included in my Audible membership so yay! Anne @Books of My Heart recently reviewed the latest of The Alaskan Wild Mysteries, so I borrowed an audio of Thin Ice, the first in the series.

I'm giving away my ARC copy of An Unexpected Distraction HERE. This is such a great series if you enjoy Romantic Suspense and it's available on Kindle Unlimited.
How was your week?
I only was tired after my second does, but everyone has me convinced I will get sick from the booster. I hope not. I feel like I haven't really been well since the beginning of September.
ReplyDeleteThe booster wasn't as bad as the 2nd dose for me. Hope you don't have any side effects. It's a bummer you still bad from having Covid!
DeleteI was fine for my original round of the shots, but the booster knocked me out for 3 days. I'll take that over the alternative though! I'm sorry to hear about your troubles at work. It can be impossible to overcome a manger like that.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I felt like hell after the 2nd dose. Didn't feel as bad with the first or booster, but still not good. Fever, chills and aches. Yep, better than the alternative. Yeah, I've been trying to stay clear of her. :/
DeleteYou continue to get lots of great books I like. I haven't started the Hurwitz series and have all of them to read before Dark Horse. So I'll be busy with those over the next 6 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it is so difficult for your work. I'm glad you have your trips north and other breaks with your family.
Anne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Same here! I think I'll start the first one on my way up to my daughter's house on Thursday. Hope we both love the series!
DeleteI'm glad we have those breaks, too. I've gone mostly to part time now, so I'm thankful about that.
I got my booster before thanksgiving and had some body aches as well, but the worst for me was the pain in my arm! It persisted for days.
ReplyDeleteSorry your boss is so aggressive. That is really tough! Have a great week.
Yeah, all the same here. Plus those nasty headaches! Yeah, she's made a nice work situation stressful. I love my co-worker, though.
DeleteGlad you got your booster shot. And sorry work isn't going so well. That's never fun. And the Orphan X books are definitely best read in order. But they read fast. And I love them! I can't wait to read Dark Horse. Good luck this week! :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved Dream Keeper as well.....Such a good one, might even be my favorite of the series so far.
ReplyDelete"easier and easier to think about working somewhere else" I wish you luck when it you make a change! That's necessary sometimes, and I get how you feel re: the manager. that must have been tough!
ReplyDeleteYay for the booster but boo to the side effects. I need to get my booster yet but hoping for minimal side effects. Fun times huh? :)
Thin Ice looks good!
Yeah, I know that no work situation is perfect, but she's making it easier to move on.
DeleteI wish we didn't have the side effects, but I'm happy we have the vaccine to lessen all the dangers of getting Covid. Hope you don't have any side effects. I hear a lot don't.
Working with or having a manager that has an abrasive attitude is horrible. I've had a few of those over the years.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was unpleasant to work at that time! I would have provbably exploded!
ReplyDeleteI know it cannot be easy working with an aggressive boss. I am looking forward to reading An Unexpected Distraction.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're having such a tough time at work. One poor boss can make things so miserable for so many. Best of luck when you move and I hope you find a great work situation
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. I'm happy she's not in our department all day! I think that'll happen at the end of next year. We'll see.
DeleteA walk is always good :)
ReplyDeleteYay for booster shot
Yes! It's good to get moving. :)
DeleteI need to get my booster but I'm not looking forward to it. I had very strong reactions to the second dose but hearing that this booster wasn't as bad as the second doze for you gives me hope it might not be as bad as I'm thinking.
ReplyDeleteYeah, maybe you won't have any side effects. Crossing my fingers for you! :)
DeleteThat sounds like a really tough manager to work with. I'm glad you don't have to be around her TOO much, but still.
ReplyDeleteI got my booster last Thursday and my arm was really sore - very tired/worn out, some body aches, but nothing too terrible.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the issues with the manager. She sounds like a piece of work. Hooray for the booster. Too bad about the side effects but at least they were less than the original vaccines. Strangely, I had zero side effects from my booster. I hope this week has been easier for you!
