Sunday Post #206

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

It's been a busy week. Monday I visited a garden famous for their tulips with my sister, her husband and a couple of friends. We ended up at my house for an early dinner and had a wonderful visit. Spring in Northern California has been so beautiful!

More tulips

Shenanigans continue at work. They've called me in an extra day and I'm working another extra day this next week. Not excited about that since my son just decided to come visit this week.

My husband and I flew out to Texas to visit our daughter, SIL, and the grandkids on Thursday. I'm writing this late Saturday. I'm scheduled to fly out at 6am so we have to get up and leave by 4am. We're leaving earlier than planned because the whole family has cold/bronchitis/pink eye. My husband and I are hoping to escape the infections. As usual. Seems like every time we visit they're some virus that has overcome the household and we are the unfortunate next victims. Would've been nice to know that before coming. My husband says his eyes are already burning...

Click on cover for Goodreads link:

You Shouldn't Have Come Here was a strange sort of horror story. More to come later. The Bride Wore White was an entertaining historical/paranormal mystery with a splash of romance. Total on brand Amanda Quick. Loved Seven Girls Gone. Allison Brennan is an auto read for me.

  1. The tulips look beautiful. We have a tulip time festival here (in Holland, a neighboring town) and they really are gorgeous.

Yikes- sorry to hear about the infections! I hope you escape the worst of it.

I just saw Seven Girls Gone somewhere else too and it sounds like a great thriller.

    1. You should share some photos next time you go, Greg! Yeah, I think I'm coming down with the cold and maybe the pink eye. My husband has pink eye so it's not looking good. :(

      Seven Girls Gone was excellent!

    1. Thanks, Mark! I think you're in Southern California, right? If so you should go the Huntington Gardens and Library in San Marino. Out near Pasadena. They have the most amazing gardens!

  4. I love a pretty garden! We often seek them out when we travel. I've only tried one Brennan book and it wasn't for me. Maybe I'll give this one a try since you enjoyed it so much.

    1. I usually look up botanical gardens to visit as well. Love flowers! Oh, bummer about not enjoying Brennan. She has several series'. I really enjoyed her Max Revere series, the See No Evil series and Quinn and Costa. Seven Girls Gone is part of the Quinn and Costa series and I'd start with the first one.

  10. Gorgeous tulips! And I really hope you don't get sick from your family visit. Loved ones can be so generous with their germs sometimes. And good luck at work this week! :D

  11. Beautiful photos. I love my spring flowers. I also loved Seven Girls Gone and Drowning. I hope you don't get the illnesses. I try not to travel, stay in my small group of people I know. You're likely traveling or exhausted for the chat this afternoon.

    1. Unfortunately our daughter, SIL and the grandkids now live in Texas so in order to see them we have to travel. I hate the plane rides! *sigh* I love them, but being your typical 5 and 7 year old, they are germ factories!

  12. What beautiful tulips! I hope the family feels better and you guys don't get it. Pink eye is awful! As a teacher, pink eye and lice are my biggest fears!

  13. Aaah the tulips are gorgeous! Lovely and colorful.

The Bride wore White is making the rounds, I will have to take a closer look at it. Glad to see you've enjoyed it too.

Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. There were so many beautiful flowers on our trip! I'll post some photos next Sunday, but yes it was hot! Cloudy with some rain but hot and humid. Just outside of Austin, a place called Bee Cave. Where do you live, Ethan?

I hope you are able to avoid the illness. I believe Pink Eye is a symptom associated with the new strain of CoVid.

Wishing you a great reading week

  17. How great to have a visit with your daughter, but that is one early flight out. Ugh. Hopefully you managed to take your leave before catching anything! (Although your husband's burning eyes do not sound promising.)
