Sunday Post #314

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

The weather has been gorgeous and the leaves brilliant here in Northern California! It's been raining off and on today (Saturday) and will continue tomorrow.

We've brought out the heating mats for the barn cats and finally got one where they use it in the garage. They have a cat door into the garage and already go in and out as they please. We have an electronic feeder with dry food in there but we also bring up plates of wet food, too. They really go through the cat food when the temperatures drop!

I've been experimenting with my packing as I'm only taking a carry-on and a duffle (my personal item) for a two and a half week trip to Italy with varying temperatures since I'll be in the North of Italy (Lake Como, Venice and Milan) and in a more temperate areas (Florence and Rome). I think I have it figured out.

Read:

Mate (Bride #2) by Ali Hazelwood
The Heartbreak Hotel by Ellen O'Clover
The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy (Dearly Beloathed #1) by Brigitte Knightley

I had a good reading week! Mate had me laughing throughout with Hazelwood's fast, witty humor. The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy was also funny and clever! I had started The Heartbreak Hotel a while back and had to set it aside because it wasn't grabbing me and I was having trouble with the female main lead, but I picked up again and gave it a chance. It picked up and I ended up pleasantly surprised!

How was your week?

  1. Packing light really rewards the traveler! I have carry-on luggage that’s just at the upper limit of the airlines’ rules and can go a long time with what’s in one. Have a great time (especially when you sail out of the airport before everyone else and get a cab first).

  2. I just got Blind Date with a Werewolf from the library too.

  5. The puzzle is beautiful and really shows why I love this time of year. I have to know how you did with the 2.5 weeks in carry on luggage??? I hardly had any clean clothing after my 11 day trip and I had a full sized suitcase. I supposed, I could have washed clothes on the ship, but I don't do chores on vacation.

  6. Enjoy your trip to Italy! I hope you have the best time. I'd love to go there someday. And I'm glad to hear Mate was such a fun read. I'm looking forward to that one myself. :D

  7. I missed out on my family's trip to Italy this past month because it is during the school year sadly. Maybe in the future for me. I am not great about packing that light! But I'm sure it helps to do that! I can't wait to get my special edition copy of Mate. Maybe I'll see if I can get it from the library to listen before then, but don't know if I will. Hope you have a good week!

  8. What a lovely puzzle, Rachel - and the autumn colours are fabulous! And I'm awestruck - I do NOT ever travel light. I go away for a weekend and I end up with two suitcases... Have a wonderful week.

  9. When I went for 9.5 weeks all over Europe with my Dad, we did do laundry. We only each had one bag. Plenty of undies, layers and I bought a few items - thick wool socks when I skied in the Alps (in July) and a wool sweater in Norway (also July). and a jacket in Amsterdam (June). I still have those socks and that jacket almost 50 years later. I hope you have a great trip. Your books are close to the ones I'm reading.

  10. The key to your packing will be layering I think... T shirt underneath a sweater etc. Have fun in Italy Rachel!

  11. Your fall maple colors are gorgeous. Our trees and bushes are just starting to turn and I look forward to seeing it in full this next week. I agree that the cats pack in more chow in the colder season. Yay for figuring out your packing plan. Looks like you had a really good reading and puzzle week.

    Have a good week, Rachel!
