About the book:
Genevieve McInnis is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen's rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress-something warm, wicked, and tempting.Bowen seizes his enemy's keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He's enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer's skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her-even if it means losing her forever.

My Thoughts:
Highlander Most Wanted was a beautiful romance with a HOT powerful clan man with a soft gooey heart! This is the second Maya Banks historical romance I’ve “read” (audio book), and I was swept away again!

We met Genevieve is the last book. She was the mysterious girl in the cloak who alerted Graeme to Eveline’s whereabouts when she was being held captive by the McHugh clan. We find out poor Genevieve’s sad and horrific tale in this installment of The Montgomery’s and The Armstrong’s series. Ian McHugh was a sick man who abducted and held Genevieve captive for a year, putting her through a living hell!

When Graeme Montgomery rescues his wife Eveline from Ian’s clutches and executes him, Genevieve has hope that her nightmare is coming to an end. Unfortunately residing in a clan full of deceitful and evil McHugh’s makes that near impossible. Thankfully, Bowen Montgomery steps in and makes it his personal mission to make Genevieve safe. He’s in awe of how strong and intact Genevieve’s spirit remains in spite of all she’s gone through. In getting to know Genevieve, he can’t help falling for this gorgeous woman! Genevieve can’t believe there are men like Bowen on the earth: kind, strong, and infinitely compassionate. He restores her faith in men and in the process falls hard for this beautiful man, because as gorgeous as he is on the outside, he’s that and more on the inside!

I felt so bad for Eveline and was on pins and needles for her because she did a few things that she felt immense shame and regret for. Things she had to do for survival. She didn’t need anything or anyone else dealing emotional or physical blows! I fell for Bowen just as hard as Genevieve did because he was so understanding, and the perfect champion for her. Their gradual shy attraction that developed into an all consuming romance was a treat to witness!

Favorite Quote:

“He kissed her temple, nuzzling her skin, and murmured again that she was the most beautiful lass in the world. They weren't just words he offered. Platitudes he didn't mean. He cared not about the scar that marred her face. In his eyes, she was the most beautiful lass he'd ever known and nothing would change that. Not a scar. Not circumstances. She was his, and he didn't give one damn what others thought.”

I highly recommend this series to any historical romance fan, especially the audio version because Kirsten Potter’s narration is perfection. The accents are lovely yet not overdone.
