Review: Love Irresistibly (FBI/US Attorney #4) by Julie James

Love Irresistibly (FBI/US Attorney #4) by Julie James

HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…

A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.

AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.

A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . .
My Thoughts

Fun and entertaining. Exactly what I've come to expect from Julie James.

Brooke Parker is an ambitious corporate lawyer that doesn’t have time for relationships. She's had three failed attempts in the last eighteen months and most recently was pegged as not being the "big picture kind of girl." So when she focuses on her career, which is most important to her at the time, it comes as a surprise that a U.S Attorney who needs her help in a political corruption case begins to have her questioning what she really wants out of life.

I really enjoyed Brooke and Cade together. As a pair, they had a ton of chemistry, as well as engaging conversations. Their time together felt comfortable and right. I also liked how Julie James made each of these characters ambitious and career focused because when they each began to develop feelings for each other, how they eventually balanced work and life was realistic and fulfilling.

There were other characters in the novel that added a certain level of depth to the story, especially Brooke’s friends and Cade's family. I enjoyed reading their parts of the story, especially because it never felt contrived or over-done.

Overall, when I'm in a reading slump, and I know I need to pick up a book from a favorite author, Julie James is a sure bet. Love Irresistibly reminded me why I enjoy her novels so much. She creates likeable characters, realistic plots and sprinkles some hot chemistry to entice an avid contemporary reader such as myself. Loved it irresistibly!!
