Sunday Post #66

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

I'm currently up in the mountains enjoying time with the family, away from all things Corona virus! It's all over the news, and has been all anyone's been talking about, right? I work in a hospital so it's a huge concern and everyone's on high alert.

I loved Kendra Elliot's Mercy Kilpatrick series so I was excited to pick up her newest. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next book! It's on Kindle Unlimited both e-book and audio. Starting Over at Blueberry Creek was a heartwarming sweet, small-town romance.

Received/Purchased/Library Lend:

I've been looking forward to The Cowboy Meets His Match ever since I read the teaser in the last book, so I was thrilled to get a copy. Love Nalini Singh Psy/Trinity series so of course I'm excited about Alpha Night. Robyn Carr writes wonderful romances and women's fiction so grabbing up a copy of Sunrise on Half Moon Bay was a no-brainer. I finally got my library audio copy of Echoes Between Us. Need to start it soon.

Watched:

We watch this just about every time we go up to the mountains and it always makes me laugh!

How was your week?

  1. I'm really looking forward to Echoes Between Us! McGarry is one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to meet her in person two years ago, and she was the nicest! We talked about having red-headed kids, haha. I'm also a big Singh fan, but really need to catch up! Silver Silence was amazing. :)

    1. I'm currently listening to Echoes Between Us and loving it. Yay for red-headed kids! Have more, Lindsi! Red-heads are going to be extinct. I love Singh's Psy-Changeling/Trinity series and I agree, Silver Silence was amazing. I've read it 2xs. :)

  2. Oh my gosh the Coronavirus thing is everywhere and it's stressing everyone out I think! I can imagine if you're in health care you're seeing it even more than the rst of us. Yikes.

I love the look of the LAst Sister.

    1. I know! We've had a lot of refresher training since we deal with lots of isolation patients we're always cautious, but everyone is really on high alert with this one. Seriously though, TB is more of a concern because it's a life long diagnosis instead of a virus that goes away. I was more afraid with the Ebola virus a few years back, but still...

  4. I am so jelly...I need a vacation or time away. We were going to go to Florida, but decided against since I fall in the high-risk category.

    1. Yeah, best to wait until it blows over if you're high-risk. No reason to chance it. Stay safe!

  6. Oh I wish I could get away from all these menace. But I live in a big city and there is no way out from hearing these horrible news. I am glad you are at the safe mountains.

  7. Working in a hospital must be a bit intense right now. I would like to think people take the precautions they are describing all the time, especially during cold and flu season, but we forget that threat. Hope you are enjoying your mountain retreat, and that your cowboy book meets your expectations.

    1. We actually do take a lot of precautions with the flu. The flu is on the back burner right now, but it is no joke! I wear a mask for so much of my day during the high season. Every season.

Oh, I'm so excited about The Cowboy Meets His Match!

  8. It's hard not to be anxious about the coronavirus thing. Especially with everyone still fighting off the season's colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses. Also the hoarding and inflation of basic human needs. I can't imagine working in that environment right now.
Hopefully the mountain air does you good. Have a great week!

  10. The virus is certainly a concern but people's panic buying is hitting insanity levels... Wish people would be cautious but sensible, you know?

Enjoy your books! Echoes Between Us gets lots of good feedback. :)

  12. I hope you're having a great time in the mountains - away from all the coronavirus scares. Working in a hospital has to be kind of stressful though; I'm sure there are lots of panicked people!

    1. Thanks, we did! We have a plan of action in place with the virus so I'm not as panicked as some.

  13. The mountain getaway time sounds fab. I'm hoping to head to the mounts in June for a couple weeks. I got the new Nalini Singh, too. Can't wait!

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  14. I also really enjoyed the Mercy Kirkpatrick series. I love that prepper stuff. Not that I have done any of it, but I do admire the organization and planning. I hope you take precautions with working in a hospital. I am the obsessive hand washer and I don't regret those habits, especially now. I didn't need to stock up on wipes because I already have them, in every room of the house, in the car, in the Harley saddlebags. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time in the mountains and have good procedures at work.

Have a lovely week and some great new reads!

    1. I'm fascinate by the prepper stuff, too! I wish I could implement more of it in my life, but here in the city it's hard.

I've always been on the cautious side at the hospital and always have worn a mask around any sick/coughing pt., even before scares like the Ebola virus and now the Covid-19. Hand washing/sanitizing is a huge thing in the hospital, has been for a long time now. "Gel in gel out" is a rule we have to follow with all pt rooms and any new pt coming into the department for a test.

      Thanks! You too, Anne! :)

  16. I feel like a lot of people are going a bit overboard with this coronavirus. I would probably be more concerned if I worked with the public or in a medical facility though. Take care of yourself! I hope you are enjoying your visit with family. Happy reading!

    1. I'd be more worried if I worked in the ER, the first line of defense at the hospital, but honestly if you're relatively healthy I don't think Covid-19 should be a serious threat. That being said, we're on high alert. For sure if you're older or have any chronic health issues I'd be cautious!

    Thanks for sharing.
