Books From the Backlog #2

Books From the Backlog is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books and it's a way to feature our neglected books on our bookshelf.

I just recently whittled down my TBR on Goodreads from over 750 books down to 242, only leaving books I really want to get to someday. Here's one from my list.

I bought Vain back in 2013 after a friend recommended it and then never got to it.  Vain was published in 2012 and still has a high average rating (4.23 on Goodreads) which I take as a good sign.

About the book:

If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Have you read this book? If so, what'd you think?

  1. I feel like I have one by Amelie on my Kindle but I know it's not this one. The MC doesn't sound like the most likable character s I'm interested in how Amelie will make that work.

    1. I don't mind unlikable characters if they have positive changes coming. I read a few reviews and sounds like that's the case here. Now if I can squeeze it into my schedule somehow! :)

  7. She's so brassy that I am way curious about her story. I think it will be a good one for you in the right mood.

    1. Yeah, usually I'm not one for an unlikable character, but I think there's some positive character growth here.

  9. Yeah my TBR on Goodreads has little chance of decreasing since I am in the thousands. But I love that were you able to, and this one sounds fabulous. Looking forward to your thoughts on it
