I feel so bad for the people in Texas right now! What a total disaster! Makes me really appreciate California weather. Well, during the winter anyhow. The summers with our rising temps and insane wildfires are disturbing.
I went for a hike today and ran into a bunch of deer. Or rather, they almost ran into me. They were running downhill, and I quickly ran to a tree so I wouldn't be trampled to death. Not sure if you can see them in the photo below. As soon as I ran over to the tree they stopped dead in their tracks not having noticed me until I panicked and ran, lol. Anyhow, the hike was lovely. The rain is really making the hills lush and green. There were other furry friends out on the hills, too.
I also spotted an unusual looking bird. The Norther Flicker Red-Shafted:

I started re-reading the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs and then I had the urge to read the newest before I was all done. Wild Sign was sooo good. I'll be posting a review after the release date. I'm back to my re-read of the series. I'm half-way through listening to Fair Game (book 2) and should be finished after our car ride home tomorrow.

I love your deer encounter and the greenery all around. Please post more photos, I would love to live vicariously through them. It is so rare in the middle east!

DeleteI look forward to your beautiful pictures each Sunday. It's actually sunny here today, but the snow has yet to melt. Maybe this week? I am still searching for that perfect place to live, though it seems like all states seem to have pros and cons when it comes to the weather.
ReplyDeleteThe snow has its own special beauty, but I wouldn't want to commute in it. Glad you're able to work from home right now, Sam! You're right. Each place has pros and cons. We want to move to Northern California once my husband retires, which won't be for another 10 years. I hope to move sooner.

Thank you, Sherry! I felt like I should've gone for a walk today, but I just wanted to be a couch potato after the drive home. It's the weekend. We're allowed! :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures from your hike. We got a lot of rain here too, and made the grass grow like crazy. My husband had to mow yesterday because of it.

ReplyDeleteI wish I took that photo, but I don't have a proper camera other than my phone. I was able to get a good look of the bird with my binoculars. I went onto Flickr for a proper photo, one that looked almost exactly like the bird I spotted. I need to get a nice camera!

It was pretty awesome even if I was a bit panicked. I had to do it! I look forward to your thoughts once you get to it. Although I probably won't hear them until the release date since the publisher has asked we hold reviews until then. I want to talk about it! Lol.
DeleteI'm definitely happy to have some warmer weather after a pretty miserable week in Texas. After having snow covered ground all week, we were back to 70 degrees today. It is like the past week never even happened haha

DeleteLove the photo of the deer. Funny that they didn't even notice you until you stopped. :) Our home backs up to a preserve and every so often a couple deer wander into the backyard. I always enjoy that. One Snowy Night looks perfect for when you want something on the lighter side.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous, Tanya! I get possums, raccoons, rabbits and the occasional coyote where I live, but rarely a deer. However, we're at our daughter's house often and there's an abundance of deer and wild turkeys. Love them!

Lovely photos! I could really use some warmer weather these days. I'm ready to be outside more. It's crazy how bad it is in Texas. It's pretty bad in other areas too though, like Eastern KY.
