About the book

Emotionally crippled Liz isn’t looking for a relationship when she meets delish boy-next-door, Cohen. He’s a few years younger, a volunteer firefighter, oh…and a virgin, making him totally off limits. But never one to back away from a challenge, she’s drawn to him even while she continues to satisfy her physical needs elsewhere.

Even as she spends her evenings in another man’s arms, she somehow finds herself curled up in Cohen’s bed each night. It’s been a long time since she had a true honest-to-goodness make out session, but Cohen’s showing her just how much fun not having sex can be.
When Cohen’s injured, her real feelings for him rise to the surface, and she has to decide if she’s willing to take a risk on love after enduring so much heartbreak in her past.
My Thoughts
My roomie Brandie just reviewed this book last week and let me tell you… she was spot on! I loved this book!! Even more so than Kendall Ryan’s first book Unravel Me, which don’t get me wrong… that was really good too. Ryan sure knows how to kick up the heat and deliver a pair of characters that have so much chemistry you can see the sparks fly off your eReader! She creates sexual tension that continues to build as the story progresses and what we finally get is a full on explosion. Loved it!!

In this book, we meet Liz who is finishing her Ph.D in Psychology and living a life filled with shallow, no-commitment relationships. She has a past that continues to haunt her, so when she meets Cohen it becomes a battle of facing her fears and learning to get past the event in her life that changed her perspective on love. Cohen comes from a family where he was raised by a single mom. He’d devoted to the ones he loves and lives his life according to values that are defined by his past as well. He refuses to share himself completely until he knows he can be certain he’s met “the one.” When these two collide, it becomes a journey of discovery, self realization and lots of good stuff in between.

Liz and Cohen were a perfect pair. I enjoyed witnessing the tension build between these two, but most of all I appreciated the sincerity of their relationship. One could easily become frustrated with Liz’s constant flightiness, but when her past is fully revealed, as a reader it’s difficult not to empathize. I adored how Cohen handled Liz throughout the novel. He was patient, understanding and most of all loving in all the ways that mattered. He’d do little things for Liz like get her a sweatshirt when she was cold, bring her a water when she was thirsty, carry her bags when they were too heavy… all without being asked and at the most unexpected moments. I kept awwwww'ing like a fool every time he appeared. It was those actions and other moments of sincerity that made me fall for this character completely.

I really enjoyed this installment to the Unravel Me series and I can’t wait to read her next book, Hard to Love.

About the book

Cade’s always taken risks…

Cade takes cares of his sick younger sister by doing what he does best--cage fighting and fu--er, starring in adult movies, his newest harebrained moneymaking scheme designed to pay for his sister’s growing medical bills. But when his latest gig finds him admitted to the ER sporting an erection from hell, thanks to the little pill given to him by the director, he can’t get the pretty little nurse who treated him out of his head, even though he knows she’s so far out of his league it should be illegal.

Alexa’s always played it safe…

Tired of being pigeonholed as the sweet, innocent one, hardworking nursing student Alexa has been looking for ways to break out of her Goody Two-shoes image. When her friend suggests the outlandish idea of losing her virginity to the sexy and sure-to-be-skilled porn star, Alexa is mortified. But then when Cade refuses her proposition, she finds herself pissed off and embarrassed. When she tracks him down to give him a piece of her mind, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. Watching him care for his little sister tugs at her heart, and suddenly it’s no longer just about losing her virginity, but about helping Cade. Because Lord help her, she might actually be falling for a porn star...
