Sunday Post #151

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

This last week at work was a nightmare. The Omicron surge has officially hit Southern California and we are swamped at the hospital. I was overtime everyday except Thursday. I was so happy to have Friday off! I'm only working three days this coming week and traveling up to my daughter's house on Wednesday. I'm glad to get away.

I haven't left my house excerpt for a Physical Therapy appointment yesterday (Saturday) which is (courtesy of work, too) and a two mile walk on Friday. I feel like the appointments are helping my shoulder, which is good news.  I hope to get out for another walk today and finish my book.

I was super excited to see the Camellia planted a year ago is thriving and is full of blooms. I'll be snipping them for the house frequently!

I had a good reading week and enjoyed all three of these books. Mercy wrapped up the mystery of Atlee Pine's twin sister and I was happy about how it all turned out. I'm not sure if we'll get more Atlee Pine mysteries in the future. I hope so! A Flicker in the Dark was an excellent audio book, and The Siren of Sussex was a such a lovely historical romance!

Received/Purchased/Audiobook:

I had decided to skip Lightning in a Mirror but a forgot I ordered a physical copy! The No-Show has an interesting premise. I wonder if I'll like Joseph or want to strangle him?

Love this cover!

How was your week?

  1. I am normally impressed with PT. I am so glad to hear you are getting some time off with all the crazy going on out there. My camellia had a bud but it is still a baby, only a year old.

    1. I've never done PT before. I'm pleasantly surprised with the results so far. My camellia is young, too. Just a little over a year but I bought a big plant.

    1. Thanks! Not sure it'll be relaxing with a 3 and 6 year old, but it'll be fun and nice to be away from the hospital!

  6. Yeah, sounds like you needed that day off and trip to family. Your camelia is gorgeous in full bloom and glad your reading this week was great. LOL, I've accidentally forgotten about snagging physical review copies, too.

    Have a great week, Rachel!

  7. Your Camellia is beautiful! And it totally sucks that you're so swamped at work. Hope this week is better.

  10. Thank you so much for your work in the hospital. We just got COVID tests last week, and were negative. We're all vaxxed and boosted. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The No-Show!

    1. Thank you for saying so. I do get paid to do this job, it's just been extra hard lately! We're all feeling the effects of the pandemic, right? Thanks for getting vaccinated! That really helps since most hospitalizations are unvaccinated. About 95%. I have the numbers every day and that's what it works out to. Glad to hear you tested negative!

  13. Sounds like the upcoming days off are just in time. I imagine days at the hospital are so overwhelming right now. So I'm not the only one who forgets when I preorder books? LOL
