Sunday Post #259

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Last weekend Peanut injured his ear and we ended up taking him to the emergency vet because it was filled with pus and swollen. Needless to say it was not a fun day for Peanut or us. I felt so awful for him because he already freaks out about going to the vet. Way more than any other cat I've had, so to have an IV, be sedated and kept most of the day I was really anxious for him. Thankfully, after getting it all cleaned out and an antibiotic shot he bounced right back!

We are grandparents again! Our fourth grandchild (a boy) was born yesterday (Friday). Mom and baby are healthy and happy! We're traveling down to Southern California to meet him on Thursday.

My mouth is finally not hurting so much after dental surgery two weeks ago. I've had constant headaches, jaw pain and pain where they took the tissue graft from the roof of my mouth.

It's been a long time since I watched a movie, but The Fall Guy looked good and I love Emily Blunt. The movie was fun but not as good as I thought it would be. The best part to me was seeing the stunts in the credits at the end. Has anyone seen the new Ghostbusters movie? I was thinking of watching that next.

Garden flowers!

Rose: Peace

  5. Poor Peanut! I'm glad he's on the mend. And congrats on being a grandma again! That's so exciting. And I thought Ghostbusters:Frozen Empire was a fun movie. I loved that along with all the new characters, it included so many characters from the original movies. :D

  9. One of my cats is the really nervy sort about the vet so I know how you felt having to see Peanut go through that. Glad he's on the mend now.

Yay for the new grandbaby and healthy baby and momma. Fun that you get to see him soon.

I'm glad you loved the two Bruce Borgos books. I'm really hoping we get more.

You confirmed what I thought my reaction would be to Fall Guy. I think I'd end up comparing it to the old TV show too much.

    Have a good week, Rachel!

    1. Peanut's not going to be happy all over again when we have to take him for his vaccinations in a few weeks *sobs*. Yeah, if you have nothing better to watch then I say go for it, but it wasn't a knock-your-socks-off kind of movie, IMO at least. The Borgos books were so good! I hope we get more, too!

  14. Oh poor Peanut! Me and Marilyn feel your and Peanut's anxiety. But his recovery gives me hope that Marilyn's face will heal, although looking at it right now, I dunno.

And I'm glad your own dental pain is easing up! That procedure sounds terrible!

Congratulations on your new grandson and have fun meeting him on Thursday!

  15. What a pretty Instagram background. Is that your area? Sort of hilly, right? Glad to hear Peanut is okay & you are out of pain ... and that you have a new baby in the family! Wow. Enjoy the new grandbaby. Your rose is splendid as usual. Love seeing your roses. Safe trip south.

    1. Thank you! The background photo was taken from my daughter's house when she lived in Alamo (East Bay, San Francisco area). It is hilly. Rolling hills dotted with oak trees. It was such a gorgeous view, and I loved the area, but she sold that house last month. Thank you!

  18. Congratulations on the new grandchild! There is nothing like grandchildren, I think.

So glad you are finally starting to feel less pain. The mouth is a sensitive part of our bodies, my brother-in-law, the dentist, always said.

I'm happy to see how much you enjoyed The Love of My After Life.

  21. Congrats on the new grandson! Sorry to hear about Peanut's woes, but I'm happy he's on the mend. Our cat George can't stand the vet either. Last time we visited for a checkup, they took him to the back for tests and returned empty handed. Turns out, he escaped from them and was running free in the back, refusing to come when called :)
