Sunday Post #286

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

I'm in Southern California right now. We flew down and stayed with our son on Friday in the Northern Los Angeles County area to his new (to him) house. It's a nice place and the property is beautiful with lots of roses and fruit trees. Whoever laid out the garden and outdoor space did a wonderful job! We left this morning (Saturday) and traveled down to Orange County to attend a work dinner for my husband. We're flying out for home tomorrow morning.

Puzzles done while listening to audiobooks:

1000 Piece Puzzle: Twilight Sentinel by Charles Wysocki

I hunted this puzzle (I Love Canada by White Mountain) down on eBay after seeing it on Susan's blog. It was a of fun to put together!

  2. A short trip but it seems a nice one. You are so talented with puzzles. I love the Canadian one. I am fortunate to have been to Canada a few times and always enjoyed it.

    1. I love puzzles! I've been doing them for years, but my daughter got on a kick and started me up again. Lately, there's always a puzzle going. I've been to Canada a few times as well. Both the East and West sides and I thought it was beautiful! I want to visit again. My dad was born in Canada to British parents and went to elementary school there outside of Ontario.

  3. You are a rolling stone. Glad to hear you had a lovely visit with your son. I am interested to see what you think of the Oakley book. I usually love her books, but this was, uh, different.

    1. I know, Sam! I don't want to be, lol! I like to be home for the most part, but kids and my husband's work has us running around. Oh, now I'm super curious and wondering if you liked Oakley's newest! I've had one hit and one miss with her, so we'll see.

    1. Yes! I do love Canada, especially since my dad is Canadian, so I couldn't resist getting the puzzle after seeing it on Susan's blog. It was really fun to put together.

  7. Ha ha ha Rachel, I had to laugh seeing the Canadian puzzle there. Nice! Thx for the shoutout. The lettering helped me. And now we have a new Canadian puzzle going, I will take a photo for you once done. You might have to find it, lol. Your son's property sounds gorgeous. Have a nice time & safe flight back home.

  10. It sounds like a lovely little getaway. I love that Canada puzzle, of course being Canadian, it calls to me. I hear you about being behind on reviews. I did so well keeping up in January and February, but not so well in March. I hope you enjoy your new additions to your list, Rachel.

  11. Fun, but busy weekend for you. Your son's land sounds lovely and hopefully those fruit trees are good producers- yum to fresh fruit.
Cool puzzles and that Canadian one has pop.
Hope I score a copy of The Blue Horse, too.

  12. Sounds like you had a great trip! I'd love to be in that LA weather for a few days.

The Houston Rodeo started up this past week. My husband and I volunteer since I was a beneficiary of a scholarship from them years ago. It is a fun but busy time of year.

  16. Girrrrrrl, I am in Los Angeles and I have no clue what you mean by "Northern Los Angeles County". LOL But that's ok. I get that you don't want to narrow down on locations. Safety and privacy first! Sounds like your son has an amazing house! Roses and fruit trees!!! Nice!
