New Release & Author Q&A: Craving Him by Kendall Ryan

We're so excited for Kendall Ryan's newest release, Craving Him, and that she did a Q&A with us!  Check it out!

Craving Him (Love by Design, #2)

Published March 24, 2014 by Atria Books
Purchase: Amazon / B&N / iBooks / Books-a-Million
eBook On-Sale: 3/24/14
Paperback On-Sale: 6/17/14

About the book:
In Working It, New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan delivered a sexy and addictive contemporary romance about Emmy Clarke, a sweet southern girl out of her depth in New York City’s cutthroat fashion industry, and Ben Shaw, the hot male model who introduced her to a world of pleasure. But their story is far from complete…
Emmy Clarke is no quitter. Toughened by her experience working for fashion heavyweight Fiona Stone, Emmy has come a long way from her country girl roots, embracing her fast-paced and unpredictable life in New York City.
Though that life comes with more than a few complications.
First there’s the mystery of Fiona’s pregnancy, which may or may not involve Emmy’s boyfriend, superstar male model Ben Shaw. Emmy has always known that Ben comes with more baggage than she can handle—and not the Louis Vuitton kind. Yet Ben is the only man who has ever loved Emmy for who she is, and she wants nothing more than to do the same for him, even if it means forgiving his past and overlooking their wildly different lifestyles.
But when a shocking secret from Ben’s past comes to light, unraveling all of their progress, Emmy must decide if their relationship is worth the fight, or if it’s time to ignore her passion for him and let go.

My Thoughts:
ARC kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Ben Shaw.  Swoon.  I was so excited for a second dose of Ben and Emmy (ok, mostly Ben), and the conclusion of their story.  Craving Him picks up where the first book, Working It, left off.  Ben wants to win Emmy back and will do anything to have her in his life.  She is the only woman who’s ever loved him completely for him, and vice versa.  Emmy is hesitant because of the heavy baggage Ben is carrying around, including the possibility of having a child with his boss.

I adore these two together.  Especially the way Ben is with Emmy.  Who wouldn’t want to be loved so unconditionally and completely, like Ben loves Emmy.  He’s the perfect alpha male with a sweet side to swoon over.  And he will do anything to convince Emmy they should be together, regardless of his past indiscretions.  This is a book you can’t put down simply because you have to know how things work out for these two.  Will Emmy be able to get past her insecurities to be with Ben, or will she have to learn to live without him?  You have to read it to find out!

As I’ve always said, Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors who can write some of the best heart-pounding steam ever.  I know that no matter what, when I pick up one of her books, it’s inevitable that I will devour it and be happy when I finish.  Another swoon-worthy must read!

Q&A with Kendall Ryan!

Do you have a favorite scene or line from the book?
Yes! It has to be this one from Chapter 8, Ben’s point of view. At its core, this story is a loose Cinderella retelling – with delicious male model Ben as Prince Charming, overworked and often overlooked Emmy as Cinderella and Fiona as the wicked step-mother…. So this quote really encapsulated the theme of the story for me.

“Her torn panties lay on the floor at my feet, like Cinderella leaving a slipper behind, the scrap of lace was my only evidence she’d been here at all.”

What influenced you to start writing and publishing your novels?
Even as a small child, I loved to read and devoured every novel I could. Authors were my superheroes; they created entire worlds that I could escape into for hours at a time. It was always an ambition of mine to provide that same experience for a reader. I’m so blessed to do this for a living.

What is it about this genre that attracts you the most? Would you ever consider writing in a different genre?
I absolutely love to read romance novels and so that’s what I tend to write. I have also written young adult and new adult as well.

When you're not writing, what do you like to spend your time doing?
I like hanging out with my adorable husband. He makes me laugh every single day. I love being outdoors, soaking in the sun (we don’t see it very often in Minnesota), cooking something yummy for my friends and family and of course reading any chance I get.

What are you excited to read next?  What was the last fantastic book that you read?
I’m super excited for Fall to You by Lexi Ryan. She gave me an advance copy of the first book in her new series, Lost to Me and it’s super sexy and addictive. I need more!

Do you have a favorite book or author that you recommend to people or friends?

I have lots of favorites. Jasinda Wilder is quite easy to recommend. Her stories are sexy and emotional so they have something for everyone.

Thanks SO MUCH for answering our questions!  We love knowing more about the authors that we love.  Everyone go out and get your copy of Craving Him!

Blog Tour, Review, & Giveaway: Working It by Kendall Ryan

Waves of Fiction is excited to be participating in the blog tour for Working It by Kendall Ryan!

Working It by Kendall Ryan
Published November 11, 2013
Purchase: Amazon / B&N / iBooks

About the book:A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.
Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.
Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

My Thoughts:

ARC courtesy of Atria Books, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors and I have loved everything I’ve read by her.  Imagine my excitement when I received an ARC for her newest book!  I couldn’t wait to read it and now that it’s over – I want more!

While reading this book and after it ended, I was reminded of the same feelings I had when I read Fifty Shades of Grey.  It was intense, it was smoking hot (one of the hottest books I’ve read in a while), and it was impossible to put down.  I loved everything about Emmy & Ben!  I was immersed into the world of modeling – something I was completely unfamiliar with.  It was refreshing to read a book with a totally different storyline than I’ve read in a while.  Sexy, romantic, and edgy – Kendall pushed my limits in this book.  **SPOILER** I am normally completely against any storyline that includes a ménage/threesome – but somehow Kendall did the impossible - taking me out of my comfort zone.  And it was hot. **END SPOILER**

Emerson (Emmy) is your perfect relatable heroine.  A sweet southern belle from Tennessee, she is living her dream of working for a modeling agency, despite her insecurities about fitting into the glamour of the business, and dealing with a horrible wench of a boss.

Then there’s Ben.  Intense, mysterious, beautiful, sexy – he’s every woman’s fantasy.  As the agency’s top model, Emmy ends up spending more time around him, while trying not to succumb to his charms.  But it’s impossible not to fall for him when they have an undeniable chemistry.  Emmy starts to realize there is so much more to Ben than meets the eye, and despite her brain telling her not to get too close, she’s mesmerized by this beautiful broken man.

This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions as you watch Emmy and Ben’s relationship grow.  And there is just enough angst and suspense to keep you on edge.  I only wish the next two books were already out! Kendall Ryan has done it again – another must read!

Excerpt:
The photographer only prompted Ben very little. He knew how to move on camera, holding each pose for a few clicks, then turning, tilting his jaw just slightly, pouting his mouth, placing his hands on his hips, in his hair. He knew how to work the camera. The one thing that remained constant despite his movements was his intense stare, looking straight into the camera. Those dark hazel eyes burning so brilliantly. A shiver raced up my spine remembering how dark and hungry his eyes looked when he rubbed the toy against my panties last night.
The photographer clicked away, in obvious joy at getting to work with such a talent. “Chin up,” he directed. “Beautiful.” Click, click. “Relax your shoulders.” Click. “Stunning. Just like that.” Click, click.
The ads for the designer denim jeans hugging Ben in all the right places would be on billboards and in magazines that fall. I felt like a cool kid that I got to sneak a peak of the behind the scenes action.
“Great, now look off camera. Pick something to focus on,” the photographer told Ben.
His eyes found mine.
“Good, stay there,” the photographer said.
Ben’s pouty lips parted and his gaze slipped lower, settling over my chest. His jaw twitched. Desire raced through my system. My breasts felt so full and heavy, they practically throbbed for his touch.
Every tilt of his jaw, each flex of his arms felt sexual to me, a silent beckoning me with his eyes. I suppressed a hot shiver. The things he could do to my body without laying a finger on me scared me. This man was devastating to my system.
“Smoldering!” the photographer called out, continuing to click away.
If he only knew…my panties were about to ignite. Honest to God, I was a fire hazard. Ben needed to stop looking at me like that. His eyes wandered the length of my body, and I lost any interest I had in keeping us apart. My body wanted this too bad. Craved it. Like a junkie needing a fix.

Cover Reveal: Working It by Kendall Ryan

Waves of Fiction is so excited to participate in the cover reveal of Kendall Ryan's upcoming new release - Working It!

Title: Working It
Author: Kendall Ryan
Expected Release Date:  August 5, 2013
Genre: New Adult Romance
Goodreads

About the book:
A New Adult Romance from New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Kendall Ryan.
Straight-laced Emmy Clarke’s assistant job at the modeling agency provides her with one distinct perk – getting to watch pretty mancandy parade around all day. But having to work under the ultra-bitchy, ultra-British Fiona Stone barely makes it worth it. Emmy enjoys looking, but she’s not stupid enough to fall for one of the tempting specimens. Especially not rising star Ben Shaw.
Ben is everything Emmy’s not: well-traveled, highly paid and exquisitely gorgeous. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Against her better judgment to get involved, Emmy’s southern roots kick in, and whenever he’s on set, she makes sure he’s treated well and looked after. But she refuses to become one of the pathetic groupies lusting after him, and soon Ben’s drawn toward her refreshingly real attitude.
Against the backdrop of fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan, their casual flirting turns into more, and they embark on a journey of sexual discovery. But when Ben’s twisted past is uncovered, it threatens both their relationship and careers as the bitter Fiona digs her claws in, unwilling to let her golden boy go without a catfight.
Filled with passion, jealousy and heart-thumping sex, Working It is the tale of falling for a supermodel.
