Sunday Post #52

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

So this week hasn't been great for me since I got sick last Saturday at my daughter's house I've been sick all week and ended up being out a day and a half from work.  Being on cold meds has made me fuzzy and my brain hasn't been running at full capacity, lol! I've caught a few posting mistakes I had to go back and fix after the post was already live. Oh well. What can you do?

I was soooo excited to see this news that the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr will be releasing on Netflix December 6th!! It's one of my all-time favorite romance series' and they've just released a few images.  I can't wait! What about you? Have you read any of the books?

Loved The Bromance Book Club! I think I read it in one day (like I said, fuzzy details). Spun Out was really good, too and there's a giveaway for each books (links on the right sidebar). I'm continuing the Widows Island novellas by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot by audiobook and enjoying the series. They're available on Kindle Unlimited both in e-book and audio version.  Rancher's Wild Secret was just okay for me. It was a little over 200 pages, so a quick read, but revenge plots are tricky for me. Still, an entertaining spicy romance.

You all know I LOVE the Rockton series by Kelley Armstrong so I was thrilled to get an approval! I got a library audio of An Alaskan Christmas.  Hope it's good. The Verity Kent series sounded like my kind of mystery series, especially after reading Sophia Rose's review of the latest installment.

I don't think any of the sequels will ever live up to the original Halloween, but this was entertaining despite the usual "too stupid to live" character moves. Hey, what would a horror movie be without shouting "don't do it!" at the movie screen?

Make sure to check out the giveaways on the sidebar to the right especially because one features a $100 Amazon Gift Card!!

How was your week?

  1. Oh no- hope you feel better! And how fun that a favorite series is coming to netflix! Hope it's awesome. :)

  2. I don´t have Netflix but the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr sounds familiar. But I know that I have not read any of her books yet. Have fun watching the series. Hope you feel better being sick is no fun. Have a wonderful Sunday.

  3. I hope you are feeling better and having a brain fog is annoying when you can't take off your regular routine.

  4. I hope your cold is working its way out of your system. I am a solid Bromance fan too. That book was so good. I have grabby hands for the next one.

  5. I read Bromance in one sitting! I loved it! And I think this is the season for everyone getting sick. I hope you feel better!

  6. Feel better. You've read some good books.

  7. I hope you're feeling better and please do rest some more if you got time. I agree about Halloween. Sequels are usually a hit or miss (this is why I'm having doubts on The Grudge 2020). I keep reading posts about The Bromance Book Club and how it's good and I'm really, REALLY looking forward to finally sitting down and read it.

  8. I’m sorry you have been ill, I hope you recover soon.
The Rockton series is one I’d like to find time to read

Wishing you a great reading week

  9. I am so sorry that you've been sick Rachel! Everyone is sick at home too. I guess it's the seasonal cold and all. Now I am happy that you loved The Bromance Book Club as it gets so many good reviews ;-)

  10. Hope you feel better soon! I loved the Bromance Book Club too! I can't wait for more!

  11. I have friends who love the Virgin River series but I haven't read it. Everyone seems to love the Bromance Book Club which I didn't request as an ARC so I have on reserve on audio at the library and also Alaskan Christmas. I also LOVE LOVE the Rockton series which I go for the audio ARCs. I hope you are finally feeling better and can enjoy these great books.

  12. Yikes, that sickness just would not let you go. LOL, to dose up and be fuzzy or not dose and be miserable.
I've only read one of the Virgin River books, but I did request the first one so I can get caught up and watch the show. :)

Oh yay, glad you're still loving Widow's Island and are going to try the Verity Kent series. :)

    Have a great week, Rachel!

  13. Oh no, I hope you feel better soon! Enjoy your new books! I really need to catch up on the Rockton series.

  14. I can't wait for Virgin River! I'll probably grab the books too. So sorry you are ill and I hope you feel better soon:)

  15. Oh, I'm sorry you're still sick. I hate that - it really does bring you down! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed The Bromance Book Club though. I want to read that one!

  16. It's no fun when illness lingers. I really hope you feel better soon Rachel :). It looks like you had a really good reading week and have some awesome new books to enjoy as well. Happy Reading!

  17. I hope you're feeling much better this week, Rachel!!
I'm finally going to get some use out of my Netflix subscription!! I never watch tv, but that is one of my favorite series ever. Can't wait!
I love the Halloween movies. The original is definitely my favorite movie of all time, but I do love the comeback JLC is making. I'm excited for the next few she's making, too.

  18. Ugh, sorry to hear that cold latest all week, Rachel. Hope you’re feeling much better by now. I think “too stupid to live” characters are basically the staple of every horror movie, aren’t they? :)
