The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
Our house went on the market Thursday and we had our first open house yesterday and there's another today from 1-4pm. We have to be out of the house during that time so we had a long lunch and then took our older cat to the park. Yes, we've been taking her out of the house with every showing (there's been six) because she can be an issue. She's deaf and I think she's lost it a bit mentally because she'll walk around and just meow really loud for no reason, and she has no qualms about walking underfoot. I don't want her to be hurt. We left her in the car with the air conditioning on and locked while we had lunch. It's an electric hybrid so we had it on electric mode so it wouldn't overheat. She burrowed in her cat carrier and napped. It's tough and heartbreaking when your pet gets old. She still has joy in her life, so I don't want to cut her life short, but she's deteriorating like our last two cats. Weight loss even though she eats constantly she's a bag of bones, and her balance is off. Our other cat hid on the hill until we came home.

Yep, not much reading got done even with audio it was tough to focus enough to read. I enjoyed Crowbones, but I'd like a little more romance like with Meg and Simon.

Love this cover and the story was captivating!
How was your week?
I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, that's a tough place to be.
ReplyDeleteIt is. She's been such a good kitty. We've had to put down two cats in the last five years and it was heartbreaking. They were both super old and we probably waited too long, but I feel horrible taking any life away from them.
DeletePoor kitty. It is hard watching your pets age at rate faster than yourself. Good luck with the showings. I hope the house goes quickly.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks! I wanted to get another cat for a playmate for our younger cat but this makes me think twice about it. I won't get another cat until the older one passes though, because she would freak out and she doesn't deserve the upheaval in her older years.
Deleteyes it's very tough when they get old. I hope you get the price you want for your home quickly and the move goes easily.

Thanks! I hope so, too, Anne!
DeleteIt is hard when our animals get older.
ReplyDeleteAww that's hard when cats get older like that. Best wishes that she stays as healthy as possible and has a good quality of life for a while yet. And good luck with the showings!
ReplyDeleteOne of our dogs is getting old and it is heartbreaking. He struggles to run and jump like he used to. So we baby him a great deal now because we don't know how much longer we will have!
ReplyDeleteIt is sad when our pets start to show their age! Good luck with your showings; I hope you get lost of good offers.
ReplyDeleteGlad your house sale is going well!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

Hopefully your open houses will be productive of a buyer and how sweet you were to care for your senior cat. :) Glad you could enjoy Crowbones to help relax. Have a good week, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteIt is really sad when animals start getting old. I think that one of my dogs had a form of dementia towards the end of her life. I hope your house goes under contract quickly. I hated having open houses and we weren't even living there anymore. Of course, someone broke out pool pump during an open house so my hate was justified. I hope that you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo sad about your cat. I lost 2 dogs last year to old age, it's sad to see them get old, but they bring so much joy.
ReplyDeleteI hate cats..l like dogs
ReplyDeleteSorry about your cat. The same thing is happening with my dog. She eats normally but is losing weight rapidly, and she's got a bunch of skin infections that won't go away. I'm not ready to euthanize her because she's still got *most* of her brains.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your feline, that must really be tough for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope for a fast sale!
ReplyDeletePoor kitty :(
Aging pets is hard. :( I hope the showings go well... and the offers are rolling in!
