The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
Happy Sunday!
It's started to heat up here with temps in the low 90s. Working Sunday threw my week off a bit. I had Monday off but then worked Tuesday and Wednesday and we've been really busy. My shoulder is really feeling it.
I finished the first season of Tracker, that's all that's on Hulu right now. It's kind of a cheesy, but fun action/mystery series and I like the actors and settings. I started watching it after reading and loving South of Nowhere by Jeffrey Deaver and the series is based off the Colter Shaw book series.
I ordered shade cloths that block out 40% of the suns rays for more of my garden beds. My tomatoes are doing better this year with them. My flowers are really coming up. Roses, zinnias, cosmos, snapdragon butterfly bush, and hydrangea. I'll have interesting varieties of sunflowers blooming soon. It's my first time growing them and I started them from seed. We'll see how they turn out.
These two hydrangea bushes are coming out really blue, but I have another to the left that is purple (not shown). I must've not sprinkled the bluing powder (that you water in) around that bush.

I'm getting ready to head to Montana later this week. I didn't get as much reading done as I hoped to but I enjoyed what I read.

How was your week?
Glad you enjoyed your reading. That hydranga is a fabulous colour - as it that glorious amber rose. The idea of having a shading cloth to protect the plants from the worst of the sun sounds interesting. We're not at that stage yet here in southern UK - but I can envisage a time when we will be. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love my hydrangeas! The shade cloth setup has been helping a lot. I never thought of it before reading an article on tomato growing that suggested it.
DeleteThe flowers are all so pretty! My mom loves the Tracker show. She thinks the main actor is hot, lol. I just can't stop seeing him from when he played Victor Newman's son on The Young and the Restless. It was hot here this week too. Hope you have a good time in Montana! I haven't been there since I got to be on a dinosaur dig the summer I graduated from college. But would love to go back!

He is cute, but kind of in a guy-next-door sort of way for me. Thanks! I'm looking forward to going!
DeleteYour flowers are truly beautiful Rachel! And I hope you will work less this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sophie!
DeleteSmokey is too cute. Love your flowers, they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSmokey is a cuddler! He just flops into the middle of whatever you're doing. Thanks!
DeleteI love seeing your flower and other photos. I also did bluing for my hydrangeas for the first time this year. Otherwise they are pink for my soil pH. A busy week for you. I hope Montana is cooler.

I just checked and Montana is cooler! Yay!
DeleteI can imagine how working a day not your usual would really throw off your week like getting the one-day holidays do. I think hydrangeas' color is affected by the soil content so that's interesting that just a few feet over your soil content must change. Love the bold blue of those.
ReplyDeleteFun puzzle and kitty pics.
Yay for a five-star for the Anna Lee Huber. I start mine this week.
Have a safe trip and a happy 4th, Rachel!
Ha, just noticed you said that you put coloring on the blue hydrangeas. Guess that will affect them, too. ;)
DeleteThere's a powder that you sprinkle on top of the soil that amends the PH level and makes the hydrangeas turn blue. I can't remember what it's called right now, though!
DeleteWhen you water it gets to the roots, I guess.
DeleteYour flowers are gorgeous, Rachel. I love that Amber rose. I hope you enjoy your holiday, and don't worry about what you read, just have fun.
