Sunday Post #351

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

Another busy week with work. Summer is still hanging on, although the days are getting shorter.

My husband and I went for medical appointments. Mine was a wellness check and my cholesterol is slightly elevated. I'm careful with my diet and I exercise. I guess it's because of low estrogen coming out of menopause. The gift that keeps giving. My husband tore something in his bicep a few months ago. The muscle looks like popeye (a response to having something torn). He's not one for going to the doctor but since there's been no change and it hurts to use it I finally convinced him to get it checked. They got him in for a stat MRI. I think he'll have to have surgery.

The flowers in my garden are doing better with the cooler temps (80s) and continue to bring me joy.

Two library lends and two arcs. Two 5 star reads and two 3.5 stars. A pretty good reading week. I think The Secrets We Hide was my favorite! I hope she continues the series!

Happy Sunday!

Woke up to a hazy morning. We got to a low of 54F last night and the temps are cooling down and the days are getting shorter!

It was a busy week and I worked yesterday which is one of the reasons I'm getting this up late.

Our neighbor has several plum trees and asked if we wanted to pick some, so my husband and I went over and got a big bag full. I finally had some time on Friday so we started the process of making jam. Had a some kinks in the process and got one batch finished yesterday after work.

First batch done!

Happy Sunday!

We had a beautiful week of weather. It cooled down to low 80s and the nights were in the 50s! So we enjoyed some time out on the front porch in the evenings.

I've been deadheading and fertilizing. We harvested our onions, shallots, and carrots and planted seeds: lettuce, arugula, spinach, radishes, carrots, leeks, cilantro. Probably more I'm not thinking of. Our tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumber, basil and oregano are still producing more than we can keep up with.

We went to the Nevada County Fair on Friday with my sister and BIL. This is in our town of Grass Valley, California. Not sure why it's called Nevada County when it's in California. I'm sure I could look it up, but I'm too lazy at the moment. It was fun and in an area with a lot of pine trees so it was cool. I enjoyed seeing all the animals and livestock and the flowers! I forgot to take pictures.

Zinnias are such a great summer producer! I keep cutting and they keep coming!

Happy Sunday!

It's been a busy and hot week here! Friday we got to 106F, the hottest day of the year so far. It's cooled off into the upper 90s since then, but still, it's hot! Our son, DIL, and our two grandkids (3 1/2 and 2 yrs old boys!) came up for a visit which is why I've been a bit MIA. Lots of activity! We had dinners with my sister and BIL, went to the pool, went rafting/floating on the Truckee River, and then the local bookstore with a neat kids section and then the candy store.

Very calm waters for the most part.

More of the kids section

They left on Friday afternoon. Sad to see them go. Now we're recuperating.
Went to lunch yesterday (Saturday) and shopping at Trader Joe's.

The garden has been producing a lot! We're having a bunch in wraps and tonight I'm making pasta with tomatoes, basil and shrimp.
