The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
Happy Sunday!
I worked last Sunday and it feels like my whole week it a little off when I work a weekend day. The weather is still warm, in the 80s, but we've been dipping down into the 40s and 50s most nights. It's easier to get our cats to come in at night since the temps have dropped.
Peanut, my reading buddy.
I find it harder and harder to read only by my eyes (as in e-copy or physical copy). It feels like it takes forever and I'm not able to do anything else.
We picked a bunch of apples this week and today my husband helped me process them for canning. We did apple pie filling and applesauce and both turned out really good!
Read:
Something About September by Julia McKay-4 Stars
Dive Bar at the End of the Road by Kelley Armstrong-4 Stars
I haven't been reading much romance lately but I got a physical copy of Something About September and I was able to grab a library audio. I really enjoyed it! Dive Bar at the End of the Road was wild! A page-turning horror/mystery! A Map to Murder was a great mystery filled with interesting bits on San Francisco's true crime history!
Received:
The Final Final Girl by James Kaine
Sometimes I Scare Myself by Jeneva Rose
The Henchperson's Guide to Unionizing by Marshall J. Moore
Thank you to Simon Maverick, Libro.fm and Bantam!

I wish our soil here was as good as yours seems to be, also that it was slightly cooler since so many things die in the heat of July-August. I'm reading Dive Bar right now and yes wacky, at halfway. I have the same problem with reading ebooks. In the daytime I go for audio because I can multitask.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
It was pretty hot here during the summer and I did have several things die or bolt. I feel like it's always trial, error and learning from my mistakes, haha! Zinnias are truly easy to grow, don't require much and thrive even in the intense heat! Hope you love Dive Bar!
DeleteWe're doimg a lot of puzzles this year too but notso many as you have done. Goimg shopping for more puzzles tomorrow. Where do you get yours?
ReplyDeleteI get a lot on Amazon, some at Target, some directly from the maker and some from eBay. I had a lot already, though. I keep them in plastic bins in my attic and rotate ones I haven't done for a while. I need to curb my puzzle purchases, though, haha!
DeleteHow nice that you and the husband do the canning together. I do not like doing things off schedule. It sets me back for days. I LOVED Something About September. It's right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteIt was extremely nice to have his help! It would've taken me a lot longer if not. It was my favorite from the author so far!
DeleteWhat a great pic! (I love the Peanut one too, though 🙂).
ReplyDelete40F is COLD! Especially considering the temps you're having during the day. But, anything is better than the unforgiving hot of this summer...
Your weekly puzzle is very in tune with your cooking (or, well, preserving) activities LOL.
If Dive Bar was "wild", it's pretty much my kind of book!
*heat*
DeleteThanks! Peanut is my heart! I love him (and my other cats) to pieces! I didn't put that together about my puzzle, but you're right! Haha! It hasn't been that hot and it seems like it cools down right away because the days are shorter. I think you'd like Dive Bar, Roberta!
DeleteIt is apple season! I love homemade apple sauce and apple crisp.
ReplyDeleteI think the applesauce turned out really good! It was our first time making it!
DeletePeanut is so cute. I love the flowers.
ReplyDeletePeanut is a cutie! Me too!
DeleteI'm glad to see how much you liked Dive Bar. Beautiful zinnias! I'm terribly jealous of those temps at night.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Austin right now and I can understand why! It doesn't cool down at night like 76 with a ton of humidity here! I'd have a hard time getting my runs in!
DeleteI love being able to open my windows at night to sleep, when our temperatures go down. It's been in the mid to high 70s in the daytime. Those zinnias are gorgeous! Have a great week, Rachel.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice. Too cold to keep our windows open, though. Zinnias are a star performer! You too, Carla!
DeleteAwww Peanut! Such a cutie
ReplyDeleteIsn't he?! I love him to pieces!
DeleteLove the jam puzzle and Peanut is adorable. I listened to Dive Bar and enjoyed it as well.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good one with somewhat sensible motivations for a horror story! Looking forward to your thoughts!
DeleteIt's safe & nice you bring your kitties in at night. And I'm wondering if you have good recipes of the apple pie filling and applesauce? Our apples are done now but we had a lot for a while ... at the end of August and early September. Your apple concoctions seem really good! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYes, we try to do that each night. Most of the time we're successful. I do have a good recipe for the apple pie filling that I can send to you when I get home. I sort of combined a couple of recipes for the applesauce and made my own changes. I'll have to looks and see what I did. I'm on my way home today so I should be able to send you info when I get back this weekend.
DeleteLove the moonlight photo and, of course, lil Peanut.
ReplyDeletePeanut is a sweetie!
DeleteBeautiful flowers! Love your reading buddy too, lol. Hope you had a good past week, I'm behind from the craziness of my life right now.
