Sunday Post #148

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

Can't believe it's Christmas next week and the year is almost over! Another busy week at work, but the next couple of weeks I only work Monday-Wednesday. So happy.  Yesterday we traveled down to Orange County (about an 1.5 hours away) to meet up with a few of my husband's old work friends at a bar called Joe Jost's. It's a historical place, established in 1924, that's always busy. It was fun but boy I was tired after! Came home and took a two hour nap which I hardly ever do.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to embed excerpts as a window into blog posts, because the way I used to do it doesn't work anymore. I figured this out last week when I went to add an excerpt in. It was late so I just left it out because no one wants to scroll down a post for days to get to the end! I finally got it and so I set up four future posts. I've been on the computer all day trying to organize posts ahead of time since I'll be busy in the next few weeks.

Read:

Started the Orphan X (on audio) series with my husband last Sunday on our way home from my daughter's and finished it on our trip back and forth to the bar yesterday. It was really good! Sleigh Bells Ring was one of those comfort reads that reminded me of a Hallmark Holiday Movie. Loved Homecoming King

Received/Purchased/Library Lend:

Rancher's Forgotten Rival and An Operative's Last Stand are both fairly short books and are part of upcoming tours I joined. I've enjoyed both authors in the past. Homecoming King was a last minute arrival.

Love this cover so much! It might be my favorite cover of the season!

How was your week?

  1. Orphan X sounds wonderful - and the first in a new series? Sounds intriguing! Yes, I really like the cover of Sleigh Bells Ring - it sold me on reading the book. Take good care and Merry Christmas!

  2. Yay for short weeks. And I can't believe Christmas is next week either. Crazy.

That Joe Jost's looks like a neat place. I bopped over to check it out and a root beer and one of their sandwiches I bet is a pretty good meal. :)

Anyway have an awesome holiday! I've only read one of Hurwitz' books- his foray into YA- but it was good.

    1. It is an old-school bar. I had a sausage sandwich, which was like a hotdog on soft rye bread and beer. It was good! You too, Greg! :)

  3. I don't know if you are using the block system Rachel but there is now a special option to embed on it dependeing on the source you are embedding from.

    1. I don't know if I'm using the block system. I'm not even sure how to check. I read several internet articles that were out of date and advising me to do the same thing I did in the past and then I finally found a YouTube video that gave me the instructions I needed. I'm just kind of flubbing my way along here blogging, lol!

  4. Every time someone compares a book to a Hallmark movie, I add it to my TBR. Those are definitely comfort reads to me too. Can't wait to read the new Reid book. Sounds so good! Hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy the holiday!

  7. LOL. That's hilarious. I started the Orphan X series on audio on my trip. I own them all on Audible except the latest which I have as an ARC. I am so glad to hear you have a reduced schedule and will have some time off for the holidays. Have a very happy holiday, Rachel!

  10. Hooray for the reduced work schedule! Great to have a break over the holidays. I've tried and tried to figure out how to insert boxes/windows for excerpts or book synopses but finally gave up. I decided it was beyond my limited html knowledge. LOL Sleigh Bells Ring was a total comfort read. :)
