Sunday Post #325

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

Happy Sunday!

We're on our way home from Southern California. It was a flurry of activity. We drove down to Irvine for a work dinner and the next day traveled to my son and DIL's house to spend time with them and the grandkids. Two boys, ages three and one! Busy with a lot of energy! We cooked a family dinner, my dad and his wife, my two sisters and my sister's husband all came. We had a great time catching up!

We stopped at my husband's parents home on our way back home and had breakfast with them. They live in a small town outside of Southern California and have a peaceful backyard with lots of oak trees, birdfeeders and birdbaths.

We're driving back home. Hopefully we won't run into the pervasive fog that's been plaguing Central California, causing a bunch of accidents.

  1. Glad you had a nice trip and hope you didn't run into fog. I've been missing you with the Read-along. You are reading some of the best books I see.

    1. We ran into a little bit but not as bad as it would've been if we left early. I was sorry I missed out, too!

  2. I've seen the Frieda McFadden title a couple of times. I'm intrigued by the embroidery scissors on the cover but will probably stick to middle grade books. Glad you got to visit with your grandchildren; I have a grandson who is turning one later this month, so I'll be seeing him in a bit. Looks like you have a lot of good books to read.

  3. I think it would be lovely to be in California right now. I didn't realize they were having trouble with fog, however. Ugh. That is the worst.

Love the puzzle. I want it! Ha!

    1. Yes, it's been a thing for the last couple of months. Something about the high pressure system keeping the higher areas sunny and warm and the low valleys stuck with moisture and fog. It's supposed to break up by the 10th and we'll be back to rain. It was a fun puzzle!

  5. It sounds like you've had a wonderful week! I love the puzzle and the sleeping kitty. Are you planning on framing the puzzle? I'm also so excited for you to read This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me! For some reason I thought you already had a copy.

    1. No, not framing the puzzle. If I did that I wouldn't be able to work it again and I like doing that! I do have an e-copy, but got an audio copy just last week. I'm excited!

    1. It was! My in-laws landscaping is really pretty, even more so in person and when the trees have their leaves! You too!

  7. You wisely visited in a warm place! It sounds like you had a fantastic time there.

I'm so glad to see how much you enjoyed Dear Debbie. I've never read this author and I worried it might be overhyped.

    1. I was worried I'd be disappointed, too. She is really popular but I wasn't sure.

  8. Sounds like a wonderful trip! It must be nice to see your family. I'll be traveling at the end of this week to see mine. Unfortunately, it's for a funeral, but it will be nice to see one another.

  9. Now that's an alluring puzzle! I love book puzzles but also landscape ones too. The book titles make it interesting. Sounds like you had a good trip. I miss SoCal. Last there in August. Looks like some pretty yards there that you visited. Enjoy your week.

    1. It was fun to put together, too. I don't miss Southern California. Too crowded and most of the time too hot for my liking, but I have family there so needs must. Hope you enjoy your week, too!

  14. Sounds like you had a nice trip! Hope you missed the fog on your way back. Sorry I'm so late getting back to comment. Hopefully for tomorrow's post I can be more on top of things, although I already know I'll be somewhere in the morning and not able to comment as much as I usually do on Sunday mornings once again. Hope you had a good week!
