The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
I'm at home this weekend, yay! The weather has been a lot better, just a little windy but still okay enough to get outside and exercise! I did 2.7 miles twice, some running and some steep uphills. Been catching up on chores at home and doing a ton of laundry, so I feel like I've got a lot accomplished. I even got to watch a movie last night. I'd like to get a good chunk of reading done tonight. We'll see.

I finally got to the 2nd book in the Monkeewrench series, Live Bait, and I liked it but not as much as the first one. It seemed like it took a long time to get answers, but I still the mystery held my attention, I liked the humor interspersed, and I love the developing relationship between Grace and Leo. I'm looking forward to listening to the next in the series soon. Beyond Risk started out strong with a lot of action, but fizzled out quickly. I ended up DNFing it at 35%. The writing and characters felt one dimensional. Now or Never was a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed the hate/love romance and I'd like to go back and read the previous books in the series.

I requested Wild Country a long time ago so I thought I wouldn't get approval. It finally came through this last week and I'm super excited! I kept going back and forth on whether to accept the publisher invite for The Escape Room, but I finally decided I'll give it a go. It sounds thrilling. We'll see. I'm looking forward to the newest First Wives Club installment, Faking Forever since the previous two have been wins for me. I've heard amazing things about the Murderbot series so I grabbed up the audio when a sale popped up.
Finally got to watch The Bird Box!! I liked it more than I thought, but I would change one thing about the ending, though. Still, yay!
How was your week?
I was surprised hoe much I liked Bird Box too! I wasn't sure what to expect. And ooh you got Murderbot! I love those novellas. :)ReplyDelete
I don't really know what to expect with Murderbot, but I am excited to pick it up because everyone seems to love it. I'm surprised I liked The Bird Box as much as I did, because so many movies disappoint me. Glad it was a hit for you, too, Greg!Delete
I still haven't watched Bird Box. I think I must be one of the rare group of people that have absolutely Zero interest. :( Glad you enjoyed it though.ReplyDelete
Getting back to the exercise is hard. I keep telling myself to get on it but in winter weather the motivation to get outside and go for a run/long walk is close to zero, lol.
Oh, yeah, if it was close to zero I wouldn't be interested in going out either!Delete
My daughter hates thrillers so she has no interest in it either, lol. :)
Glad you had a peaceful week!ReplyDelete
Here’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!
Yay for decent weather. I'm already over winter and waiting for spring to show up. Lots of good books up there!!I still need to watch Birdbox. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I think we're back to the rain here, and even more at my daughters where I'm off to on Thursday. Oh well, we need it. Hope you love The Bird Box, Grace!Delete
I also accepted The Escape Room...I always hesitate with authors I have never read, but it does sound good.ReplyDelete
Bird Box had me curled up in a tight ball.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Me too, but I lucked out with The Winter Sister so I thought what the heck. It was a tense movie in spots!Delete
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed Bird Box. Great job on the running. This is my favorite time of year to run.ReplyDelete
My favorite too! I hate running during the summer when I feel like I have to either get up at the crack of dawn to beat the heat or wait until sunset. :/Delete
I am a fan of the Denault series. The final book was not quite as emotional as the previous books, where the father's illness played a bigger role, but I thought it was a good finale. I am a Bybee fan. Her books have all been good for me.ReplyDelete
I need to get to the previous books especially if you thought they had a bigger emotional impact!Delete
Hope you got a lot of reading done. It can take so long to get approvals, sometimes I forget I even asked for them.ReplyDelete
I usually remember because I don't request that much anymore. I've been excited for Wild Country so I'm excited it finally got approved.Delete
I haven't watched Bird Box yet. One of these days I'll gt around to it. I'm eager to see what you think of Wild Country. I actually didn't love the first book in the spin-off as much as I was hoping to, but I'm hopeful that the next book puts me back on track.ReplyDelete
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Same here. I didn't love it as much as the original books, but it still was some fun. I hope Wild Country is better and has a bit of romance.Delete
Beyond Risk looked really good but noooo on the fizzle. Blerg. Sounds like a pretty good week overall :) Hope this coming one is good, too!ReplyDelete
I thought so, too. Oh well. On to the next book! Thanks!Delete
I enjoyed The Bird Box too. And isn't it funny how good we feel about accomplishing the every day things:) I plan to start Wild Country soon. Right now I'm hooked in Phoenix Falling by Laura Bickle. I love the series and this one is giving me some long awaited answers. Have another great week!ReplyDelete
My Sunday Post
Oh, I've enjoyed Laura Bickle in the past. I need to check out her newest. Thanks!Delete
Congrats on accomplishing so much! I only ran once last week because there’s so much snow! I ended up walking more than running because the paths are icy in the shade and flooded in the low spots. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Walking sounds like the safer route with snow and ice! I probably wouldn't leave the house! You too, AJ!Delete
I am so glad that Now or Never worked for you. I still need to go back and read the first book in the series but the second book might be my favorite. I was also approved for Wild Country this week. I liked the Bird Box movie better than the book but I still had some issues with it. Way to go with the excerise. I am impressed! Have a great week!ReplyDelete
Me too! I want to read the previous books now. I saw a lot of approvals for Wild Country this week. I hope it's good. I'm surprised by how much I liked The Bird Box, but I did have a niggle with one thing at the end. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks, you too!Delete
I really liked Bird Box the movie, but I LOVE the book so that's still my favorite. :-)ReplyDelete
I really want to read the Murderbot series too.
Glad to hear the movie was good even reading the book first. The movie usually isn't as good as the book, IMO. I didn't read the book.Delete
Yay for getting out there for your exercise and the chores. Definitely earned a bit of time with the books.ReplyDelete
LOL, You were smart to DNF Beyond Risk. I skim finished it and it didn't get better.
Woohoo for getting Wild Country. I only just read Written in Red so I'll have to catch up on the series. Bird Box looks good.
Have a great week, Rachel!
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who didn't like Beyond Risk. I was wondering if it was just me.Delete
I hope you enjoy the rest of The Others! It's one of my favorite series! You too, Sophia Rose! :)
Yay for some exercise and getting some chores done. I've been hearing a lot about the Murderbot series so I hope you enjoy it. I may have to check it out eventually. I haven't watched Bird Box but I've heard it is good. I hope you have another peaceful week!ReplyDelete
Tina @ As Told By Tina
I have been the laziest person ever this week, it hasn't helped that my eating has been all over the place too, I think I need to take part in some more workweek hustles in order to motivate myself! And everyone I know seems to be watching Bird Box, my sister has been on at me about it too. i guess I'm too much of a wimp to give it a go :/ I hope you have a great week!ReplyDelete
Every time I join a Workweek Hustle it seems something comes up and my steps are at the bottom of the list! It does force me to try, though. The Bird Box wasn't as scary as you'd think. More suspenseful than anything so you may like it. You too, Jasprit! :)Delete
Yay, I'm glad to see you liked Bird Box!! I thought the movie was pretty awesome. The book...not my favorite. It feels so good to be home and being productive...I love weeks like that! Have a good week, Rachel!ReplyDelete
I probably wouldn't have watched it if I didn't see that you liked it better than the book, Brandie. Thanks, you too!Delete
Yay for Wild Country and Murderbot. I LOVE LOVE Murderbot so I hope you do too! Wow great work on all the running. I prefer the lower impact swimming, walking or cycling. Have a wonderful week! Anne - Books of My HeartReplyDelete
Yeah, running is kind of tough on the joints. I'm looking forward to starting Murderbot even though I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks, you too!Delete
Hurray for better weather and exercise! I hope you enjoy your new books! The Escape Room looks really interesting!ReplyDelete
Yay for being back home :D Stunning recap Rachel. <3 Glad you read a bunch of great books :) And ahh. Bird Box. Sigh. It was so good. But gosh, yes. I was a little angry about the ending, hahaha :D I needed that one person to still be alive. Ugh. I'm still bitter about it, lol.ReplyDelete
Yes, exactly! That's my only gripe about the Bird Box.Delete
